I was complimentary. Then Huska made the dumbest decision he could. Threw out the third pairing and defensive stalwarts Kadi and Kuzmenko.

It was Rangers 4th line out if I'm not mistaken (might be their 3rd), and a neutral zone face off, seems like the right time to put out your 3rd pair and the Kadri line.

You might have a point if it was a defensive zone draw against the Rangers top line, but in that scenario that's not on the coach at all.

You were pretty quiet about his 'stupidity' when they were up 2-0. Weird.

I get it, it's your schtick. They're playing very well and that last goal was a screen and lucky bounce. It happens sometimes.

I reserve the right to be irrationally angry about virtually everything that goes against the Flames.

Oilers are down 4-2 after 2 periods.

Wouldn’t trade the Flames roster for theirs in a million years.

1. If you cant decide if it close enough to challenge in 20-30 seconds, dont challenge.

2. Edit - rule changed

3. Dont have a timeout if we need one late in the third.

Obvious things.

3 minutes left in the period with a rested team after a timeout. You play better players there trying to push back and change the momentum. Blindly matching lines ignoring the situation is not good coaching.

They changed that.

Coach's challenges no longer will be limited based on the availability of a timeout, but a minor penalty for delay of game will be assessed for any failed challenge under any of the three categories. Any subsequent failed challenge will result in a double minor for delay of game.

Why can’t you challenge a goal? You don’t need a timeout to make a challenge.

Maybe he hadn't done anything stupid until this?

Better to take the timeout to assess than use the challenge and lose it and end up with a penalty.

Okay so let's play this out:

-the Weegar pair just had a long shift and were out for the goal against
-you could go back to the Andersson-Bahl pair against their third line

But then that means on one of the next two shifts your third pair is out against one of their top two lines and you'd complain then if they scored on that shift for them having the third pair out against the Rangers top 6.

Playing the Kadri line and our 3rd pair against their 3rd / 4th line with a neutral zone faceoff was the right call.

This is what I mean about posters sitting at their keyboards waiting for their whipping boy to make their first mistake in the game (no matter what went on earlier).
