But Gretzky now too. Sorry, that was a bit much. Had to say something.
I haven't read this thread at all. Are some folks jaded because Ovechkin is russian?

He has close personal ties with Vladimir Putin, and in the previous invasion of Ukraine, had showed support for Russias invasion, even going as far as doing propaganda photoshoots.

There are plenty of Russian players who don't actively speak out against what Putin or Russia does because, for example, they have family there, or other interests, that prevent them from doing so or at least would dissuade them from doing so. But Ovechkin actively participates and enthusiastically supports the regime. That's the problem people have with him, IMO rightly so.

I still do, but I used to, too.

I’ve seen it said many times before, but when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Week-to-week, as per Sportsnet.

But more evaluation on Wednesday.

My man!

Back on the topic, Utah sucks.. but damn. Week to week, He was on an absolute tear. This may put him into next season territory if recovery messes with his confidence

OK, but in terms of actively participating and enthusiastically supporting the regime… he used to. Has hasn’t in years, regardless of whether his personal feelings remain the same.

Craaaaaap. In the middle of a historic chase and now this. Hopefully, he can come back soon at 100% and pick up where he left off, but boy, at his age, it likely hits different.

This is the kind of injury at age 39 that just might preserve Gretzky's record. How Ovechkin bounces back from this will be interesting.

It was built during the Soviet era so there might be something to that.

Skimped on parts most likely

So, they had one of their doctors call in on the Kyper and Bourne show today who is a regular that's brought on to talk about injuries to significant players with all the caveats of course, with his only knowledge being based on video, etc. Kypreos heard something about a hairline fracture and the doctor mentioned that if that's the case it would be good as OV would probably be out for max 4-6 weeks and maybe more importantly, it would fully heal.

Injuries are often cloaked in mystery. Matthews has been day-to-day for 3 weeks now, I think.
