Yeah he was a beauty in the world juniors. He was also pretty good in the AHL. That said, he doesn't look NHL ready just yet, and I think he'll be sent down again as soon as Thompson is back.

I really don’t think 7.1 is going to be that huge a deterrent, especially 2-3 years dow the road.

If I were the Flames, I would want to know what we have in Zary at C before giving up assets. If we already have a guy who can play 2C, why bring in another?
If he waives his NTC to go to Buffalo, I don't see why he would not extend.

I am not 100% against Cozens, I am 100% against getting him for Andersson 1 for 1. Buffalo needs to add. Andersson is by far the better and more consistent player and on a better contract for this year and next that can all Buffalo to add if anyone wants to go there lol.

Zary has looked good all year, the points aren't showing up. We don't have a very talented roster, and play a very basic no chance game, kind of hard to really say what he can do.

Agreed, he had three excellent outings at the WJC, and killed it at the U-18's as well. Scary to think that he's only 20 years old, and already in his 3rd year playing pro in North America.

Well, Regher waived to go to Buffalo and didn’t resign. I know they’re different players, different time etc. but there could, and likely would be, several extenuating circumstances for Andersson to go there…..who knows. Maybe the Flames fall out of the race and Buffalo’s in it. Maybe he likes what he’s seeing and thinks they’re on the rise, maybe there aren’t other options for him. I kniw, lots of maybes but I just wouldn’t dismiss anything.

Looks like Morgan Frost is in Tortorella's dog house once again. 25 year old Center who was a 1st round pick and put up big numbers back in his junior days. Could this be a center option for the Flames ? Still young and might just need a change of scenery to finally break out and hit his full potential. Thoughts ?

Hard to say what the cost would be but I'm sure Conroy is looking into it. Fits the profile

Thanks for unnecessarily bringing that up.

That trade... it was so bad. Packaging up a premium heart and soul, shutdown defenceman (AND A 2ND ROUND PICK!) to dump one year of Kotalik's salary.

Feaster's job was to tear it down, but man...

The thing about Kulich is his inability to register assists is starting to become concerning. Like... he can't really be that bad a passer, can he?

Don't forget it was all done so they could sign Brad Richards to an 8-year $63 million dollar deal.

From The Athletic:

Quote:

Perhaps the most interesting part of Frost coming out now is that Tortorella suggested he’s not trying to make any points to the player, like perhaps some previous times when the two disagreed. With just one goal and five assists in 16 games, Frost simply has struggled.
“I’m not coaching him the way I did the past two years; I don’t think he deserves that,” Tortorella said last week. “Hasn’t played well enough.”

Unfortunately Buffalo is the one team right now who have confirmed that they're both open for business and open to make "big moves". This because Adams is on the hot seat to get that team moving along. They've simply been rebuilding for far too long and its not working. So the green light has been given to use quality assets for quality veterans that fit a win now mold for them.

Sadly there's no other teams out there right now that are being so open and honest in sharing their "moves" if you will.

I personally share what I can, if its not what you want to hear I'd ask you put me on ignore so that I do not bother you with what I'm sharing on the site, I know its not always exciting and extravagant but hopefully some people enjoy it.

With that said, I'm not even sure if Cozens name is actually concretely out there right now, I simply implied that his name was on the board in the summer but things have changed by now and the value of these players is likely significantly lower on both sides (CGY/BUF) outside of Rasmus whos value continues to rise.

I'm not sure there's a team out there that would trade a 1st for Cozen's straight up due to the contract at this point and the ones that would cant fit him due to cap constraints.
If Adams is on the hot seat to do something I hope for his sake he moves of Helenius. He won’t even be around when Helenius is producing at the NHL level. They have the cap room to absorb salary, I would be looking for something like

Andersson
Vladar

For

helenius
Krebs
2026 1st top 10 protected that rolls to 2027.

Give yourself a real backup goalie who can start so you don’t completely destroy Levi and a legit top 4 RHS dman to go with your completely unbalanced group of left handed shooting dmen.

Do we want Krebs, or could we keep Vladar and get a 2nd round pick for him.

I know we lack natural centers, and Krebs is producing at the same rate as Cozens.

Doesn't make it right. I don't think you should ever quit like that because you aren't just quitting on a coach but your team and your fans.

But I think that is what it was.

If you can buy low on Frost, I think it would be worth looking into.

Tortorella is a great coach, but like Sutter, his name has also become an adjective to describe players. Maybe Frost isn't a Tortorella player and he would do better with a change of scenery.

Last year we took young D that were not getting chances, or buried in the depth charts.

Maybe this year we can do same for Centres that find themselves in similar situations.

Frost is a player that I've somehow never managed to get a read on. What kind of player is he?

I mean if Frost costs a 2nd or less (or equivalent) then sure, I'd grab him.

He's on the smaller side, good skill, more of a playmaker then a shooter, okay two-way and fast when he's playing his best.

The edge is showing him as much slower this year then the last two years, which might be why he hasn't been as effective.
