A couple of recent time-killers/experiments.
1/700 scale Tribal-class destroyer from WWII. Its size really demanded a fun display, so I went with an Arctic-type scene, complete with a curious whale coming to visit. I put some LEDs under the resin surface which gives it a surreal glow. Truth be told it looks better with the lights off.
This one's the Mary Rose (Henry VIII's flagship in 400 scale). I built it years ago and always thought it could use an upgrade, especially to the base. She got a new paint job, cloth sails and a resin sea. and then I decided to add a broadside. Think it might need just a wee bit more work:

Your displays get fancier every year, I couldn't imagine lugging that tree around.

Nah! Spruce trees are junk for cutting boards. The wood is too soft!
Spruce trees are only good for chucking off the roof of the Much Music building like it’s New Years Day in 1998.

Ok collective: tell me how you’d repair something like this?
My kid ran over an ice chunk on the bottom of his sled and subsequently torn a giant rip down the bottom of the sled. It’s not even a week old.
I looked at videos on plastic welding, maybe fiberglass over the spot, tuck tape?
What is the best way to make this thing water tight again? I don’t want snow getting in there and melting/expanding and creating a bigger issue.

I thought of ptex but never used it before? Would it melt to the plastic on both sides of tear?

Ptex is probably a good way to go. You may want to heat up the plastic with a heat gun or something as you go so it bonds better. Once cool, scrape as Sliver suggests. Try a small section first.
