Yes, they are compulsion. In a lot of employee handbooks, they’ll literally say things like “helmets on-site are compulsory.”

If Donald Trump declared that everyone who works in the U.S. federal government must declare a pledge of allegiance to him or be fired, and 90 per signed that pledge, would you say they signed it willingly, or would you say they were compelled?

Haha. Guess they weren't compelled.

Yeah, violated their right to be a selfish a-hole science denier. These ####ing loons, go get a horse and live in the woods if you don't want to participate in society and protect your fellow citizens. That story makes my day.

It's all semantics anyway. There are jobs, as others have said, where if you want to do those jobs, you have to comply with certain requirements, whether health and safety or background checks or whatever else.

Those requirements don't mean you can't work, but if you're not willing to follow them, then you have to accept there are certain things you might not be able to do. If I don't want to wear a safety harness I can't work at heights. There are lots of jobs that don't require safety harnesses, so I'm not barred from working.

Jobs that require you to sometimes use SCBA packs say you can't have a beard because otherwise the face mask won't seal properly. Doesn't mean you can't work in the tons of jobs where this isn't required.

There's a measles outbreak in the Maritimes that involves mostly unvaccinated kids, for pete's sake. Diseases that were thought eradicated such as polio are coming back because people don't want to vaccinate.

I have a brother that didn't want to vaccinate or wear a mask during COVID. So he just didn't go anywhere. His choice.

They're free to do so, but we should be able to stamp DARWINISM on their foreheads if they choose to come back into society for food, water, shelter, jobs and healthcare - which inevitably most people do and can't live without.

Polio is coming back? According to the WHO there were 6 reported cases in 2021 down from 350,000 in 1988 and type 2 and type 3 have been eradicated. Endemic wild poliovirus type 1 only remains in two countries which are Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Yes, it is. The first confirmed case in the US last year in 30 years.

Quote:
"The problem with polio is most people who get infected don’t know they’re infected and that they’re spreading the disease," says Dr. Jacobson. "Only one percent actually get the paralytic disease. And the people most likely to spread it are still in diapers, so babies and toddlers." The poliovirus is typically spread person to person, through what scientists call the "fecal-oral route," which involves contact with feces from an infected individual
.

Quote:
The U.S. vaccinated millions of people a year and would see an average of nine cases of paralytic polio per year due to the vaccine. For a while, that was considered a risk that was justified, says Dr. Jacobson, because the country was dramatically reducing the number of cases of the wild form of the disease.
In 1990, with the disease spread eliminated in the U.S., public health authorities recommended switching back to the inactivated, injectable form of the vaccine. But in other countries where poliovirus remains endemic, the live oral polio vaccine is still in use — because of its ability to provide boosting of those caring for the vaccinated person.
These days, most cases of polio in the U.S. come from people who became infected with the poliovirus while traveling abroad. So it raised alarms when a case appeared in New York in an unvaccinated man who hadn’t traveled at all. "That person was one of the 'one-percenters,' who developed full-blown paralytic polio," says Dr. Jacobson. "Most likely, the odds were dozens if not hundreds of others in the community were also infected but had no idea."

Quote:
Vaccination rates have dropped in several communities in recent years, and such preventive services took a particularly big hit during the pandemic. In some parts of Rockland County, where the case of paralytic polio was found, the polio vaccination rate for 2-year-olds is as low as 37%. These low vaccination rates provide an opening for the virus to spread unchecked throughout a community.

Compulsory to work at that place of employment.

If that’s your definition then your position in one that has no meaning.

"Coughlan wrote that while most of the plaintiffs were denied religious accommodation, none of them identified a “specific religious belief or practice in which they sincerely believe.”

Only one plaintiff, Stephen Troy Chledowski, alluded to a specific belief when he applied for religious accommodation as a “Pansexual Pagan.”"

At the time I researched and all major religions and, in fact, even the more unusual ones like JWs supported vaccination or at least said it was not something the religion banned.

Yes, the main difference is that people are (a) backing their choice with pseudo science; and (b) claiming some sort of unusual duress from the "compulsion".

I'd like to practice dentristry. I have a pretty good tool kit. I just don't have a DDS or a licence. I'm compelled to get those apparently.

Unsurprisingly, Trump's cabinet is shaping up to be more a dark carnival of conservative cringe than it is a respected, intelligent team of leaders. Congrats America, you voted for this.

I said this in the previous thread, but if this was only gonna impact (i.e. destroy) the lives on Americans, I'd probably be enjoying this immensely, watching a country get destroyed by reality TV stars. Objectively, it is pretty hilarious.

The stock thing is interesting as well. Seen a lot of people my dad included yay stocks are up.

They went up as they historically do. The bond market however is saying something else, and it's not good news.

As I mentioned previously, if you voted for him, you deserve everything that happens to you. Laughingly, that looks like exactly what will happen.

While true, there will be a hell of a lot of people suffering who didn't vote for him, too.

Please do elaborate on what the bond market is indicating post election as I'm interested in knowing either your view or the view of your sources on the bond market.
