I've actually seen McDavid in the defensive zone! And....*clutches pearls* he's been....skating!!

What universe is this??

Although that does make the inevitable glare at the defence and goaltending significantly more satisfying.

You’ve played. You know that sometimes when you want to crossover, sometimes you need extra room.

I’m willing to bet that it caused such palpitations that Mavi won’t be doing that again anytime soon.

Confirmed! From the same article, this about the Nurse incident:

“No punishment could be severe enough, in our opinion,” Knoblauch added.

I like how 5'8" Caufield outmuscled 6'2 Drai for the puck on the second goal.

There should be an annual trophy for the Best Player to Not Score a Goal.

Name it the "Dallas Eakins Trophy" in honour of the man who played 120 NHL games without ever scoring a gal.

New coach rap:

Q Was suspended, so don’t be offended.

Knobby not enjoyed, he won’t be employed!

No win with 2 skinners, no delicious chicken dinners!

Commit a boo boo? Sign a new contract two too!

For the 3-0 ENG today against the Habs, McD raced off the ice to avoid a minus as the puck bounced and slid towards the Oiler net.

Getting shutout and Drai -3 that was glorious to see on Prime

That is just a bad hockey team. How they could be considered Cup contenders by anyone credible is absolutely embarrassing

Oilers just dropped out of the wildcard spot.

With American Thanksgiving a few days away...

So the much vaunted Oiler PP, which has always been their bread and butter, went 0-3 tonight and currently ranks 22nd in the league. It was always going to fall back down to earth to a degree, but I didn't expect this big of a drop off.

Are we at the stage yet where the glitter twins get their deserved reputation as coach killers?

With every one of the Mavi “dig up” faces, it feels like re-signing moves just a little bit farther away.

I think its a bit of both worlds.

Obviously they came down to Earth and reverted to the mean but at the same time the big horses look tired and...teams have figured them out.

It couldn’t possibly be Mavi….. he’s one of the greatest… right up there with Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr.

Would be so sweet if the flames took their spot in the playoffs this year. Would be hilarious to see the Sportsnet talking heads try to reconcile that with their predictions for this season. Oiler miss playoffs. Lose their first round pick. McDavid doesn’t re-sign. Panic in oiler land all next year. Draisaitl’s contract becomes a boat anchor immediately after McDavid leaves in 2026.

He's got point tho! Not tonight, but just in general...

In the 'Peak Sadness' spot on the standings, wouldn't it be glorious if that's where they finish in April.

Not sure how accurate the icon replays are for each goal (they are pretty cool though)…but it looks like Mavi is on Montreal’s side of the ice when Habs score the second goal. That couldn’t possibly be true, could it?

My favourite part was when McDavid floated around for a minute with the net empty, turning his back to the play to a do a little circle like he was bored, then giving the puck away after a lackadaisical effort leading to the empty netter.

I wonder if anyone screams at him in the locker room telling him that it's not good enough and he needs to dig the F in right now.
