You have to weigh what matters more to the success of your team. Coronato will be a good scoring winger, but a #1B center is both harder to find and to replace.
Would be wise to hear BUF out before ruling Coronato out as untouchable. Getting a talented nhl center will, no matter what, cost them pieces they won't want to give up. What matters is if you can score that core piece for secondary pieces because the Flames currently only have a fragment of a core and won't be a factor until they get one in place.

Would rather go for Kirby Dach if you need Coronato to secure Cozens, cheaper contract and same sort of “hope it works out” long term potential. You can probably get Dach for way cheaper too. Cozens cost will come down in a couple years if the Flames want to revisit it.

That's twice you have made unprovoked and personal attacks on this poster in recent days. You can insult Huberdeau as much as you want for all I care, but I'll be damned if I stand by while you trash a great poster. Go to HF - we don't need that trash here.

So many similar posts to thank, but I'm all out.
Edit - removed an 's' where the plural was not needed by accident.

Ugly top 10 in that 19 draft.
Hughes and that's it.

Teams need to sell that #### this year, by next year they may only get 50 cents on the dollar for those players.

Vancouver took Podkolzin, and Boldy went two picks later, Caufield 3 picks after that.
Weak first round though; after that, only York, Harley and McMichael are worth noting, although obviously some guys could still improve (Broberg), but how much at this point?

Yeah I was going to say Seider.
Dach has been traded, and hasn't shown anything. Byram traded and not really living up thi soffensive potential. Zegras and Cozens are in trade rumours. The Rangers have been looking to dump Kakko. Broberg seems decent. Turcotte is struggling.

Dach suffered two season altering injuries in back to back years. His numbers when he was 21 were an acceptable 38 points in 58 games.
Today at 23 he has 8 points in 18 games. The book is far from written and he is far from "not showing anything".

So this is a bit early..
But with some of the 24-25 salary cap predictions being it skyrocketing.
If the flames are close or make the playoffs this year are they players in the UFA market this summer?

Nasville should give any team pause before they go out into the free agency market. We seen it here before as well.
Once the foundation of the team is set, you can dip into free agency to complete the team.

Do not let the money burn a hole in your pocket.
Home grown only.
Follow the Carolina Hurricanes model to a "T"

One of the most annoying things about Treliving. If he had space he had to spend it.
It's how you end up with the Troy Bouwer tree.

Without looking at the list I am going to say no outside of some more Mantha type swings

I mean I agree that I think it would be smart long term not to.
I wonder what management and ownership will think if they're in that position though.
Do they see a guy like Marner being potentially available and start licking there lips.
Or try and address our center issues via UFA is they can't in a trade

They won't have a choice. They're so close to the floor this season, that if the cap goes up about $10 million, they're going to need to add a lot just to stay above the floor.

Reading 92.5M is the max it can go up to, they could agree to go higher don't think the NHL would be interested in that.

Yeah, the Canes are pretty quick to trade you if they feel you don't fall in their cap structure.

How so?
Where did they go out and spend big money on free agency?
They let go or trade their UFAs, draft, and only give out the money to their own special players.
They make the hard decisions, let players walk rather than them turning into albatross contracts.
Show me one bad contract they had in the past 8 years.

According to Friedman on the weekend, they're talking about going as high as $97 million for next season.
The players get a guaranteed 50% of HRR, so the teams will be paying that money one way or the other. I'm sure they'd prefer to be able to go wild in free agency rather than cutting a bunch of bonus cheques at the end of the season.
