Adams might be the worst GM in the league, why would he think Ruff was a good pick when he hadn't accomplished nothing in years and couldn't do squat with a much better NJ team? Necas wanted more offensive opportunities thats why he wanted a trade. He was on a winning team, but scoring points seemed to matter more to him.
As you saw in the preseason outside of an injury our team has no winger spots to even accommodate our own players, let alone trading for another winger.
As for Cozens, how do you explain all the other players doing well this year?

Just a reminder that players today have a lot of say in whether a deal happens or not (even guys who don’t have trade protection), and Buffalo is still not an attractive destination.
|
Yeah, that is why I am not getting too excited about anything involving the Sabres. I can't see why Andersson would go there and it has to be a lock on any player's NTC unless they are from there.

Looking back maybe we should of done it...
We were probably offering something similar to the Vegas package:
Mang + 1st + 2nd + coronato but they liked tuch and krebs more than mangiapane and coronato.
|
Tuch is from the area, so they have a good chance of keeping him. Picking Krebs over Coronato is a huge miss.
Tuch > Mangiapane
Coronato > Krebs

Would Coronato secure a Cozens trade?
Remember when the Flames made Valimaki untouchable when in talks about Stone?
You have to weigh what matters more to the success of your team. Coronato will be a good scoring winger, but a #1B center is both harder to find and to replace.
Would be wise to hear BUF out before ruling Coronato out as untouchable. Getting a talented nhl center will, no matter what, cost them pieces they won't want to give up. What matters is if you can score that core piece for secondary pieces because the Flames currently only have a fragment of a core and won't be a factor until they get one in place.

Maybe. I think there is potentially a PPG player there. Same with Zegras, both these guys looked like they would be stars in their junior aged days and at the WJC.
But both have not taken steps and have regressed and with both players you have to appreciate there is a risk there.
For Cozens it's the "at worst" is that he's more of the 50 point center he's shown to be over the last 100 games (54 points in his last 97 games) and you're paying him $7.1M for that.

No chance am I adding Coronato to Andersson to get Cozens.
Coronato might end up being a better offensive producer than Cozens.

Necas wanted out and still wants out of Carolina because he doesn't like the coach and he wants to play his natural position which is centre.

He has 30 points in 17 games playing wing, and the team is winning. If he still wants out that is a huge red flag.
He can probably get a nice long-term deal in Carolina in the summer.

Agreed. Right now, both Coronato and Andersson are better players than Cozens. The flames are already taking a risk acquiring Cozens. Can’t compound the risk by giving them a young, goal-scoring winger (former 13th overall) that looks ready to pop offensively. That’s just too much risk for the flames.
I’m fine with the flames taking a chance on Cozens bouncing back but that’s when trading veteran pieces.

No thank you.
Coronato is noticeable every night in a good way. If we want to talk about players popping, he is probably the best candidate to pop right now.
He looks like a new player after 2 games in the AHL.

Carolina would be smart to try to sell high on Necas right now if he still wants out.
Shooting Percentage:
22/23: 11.7%
23/24: 10.4%
24/25: 25.6%
On Ice Shooting Percentage:
22/23: 11.0%
23/24: 9.4%
24/25: 17.3%
He's a good player but this 1.76 P/GP pace he's one right now is entirely driven by lucky percentages right now.

It wasnt that Tre wasnt willing. Tre tried to include him as the main piece since Tkachuk made it known he likely wasnt re-signing. Buffalo said no because Tkachuk wouldnt commit to signing there either. I was the one that posted that thread at the time haha

Hmm. I think it's probably wise for Carolina to keep him. I also don't see any reports of tension between him and the team.
Carolina has needed this type of output especially for the playoffs, its a big reason they have failed to make any nouse.
He also has 17 more points than the next guy.

Eichel was always good.
Mittelstadt finally put it together and they traded him for Byram.

Apparently according to this person that posted the tweet, he was a bit of a bully and did things like make fun of other players because of their parent's occupations. He was also apparently too stuck up to interview with some teams that wanted to talk to him.
