So much of this show is cringey, but I have kept watching. The young actors are all pretty bad except for Peyton List.
I find Ralph Macchio and his acting unwatchable but still surprised at how Zabka is carrying the show. Johnny's character remains interesting, I hope he gets some grand victory at the end.
A 15 episode final season sure sounds like a lot of filler.
Just a reminder that the first 5 episodes of season 6, the last year dropped tonight.
Spoiler!
It was an interesting 5 episodes, where the first few episodes were almost boring, there was no real tension, Kreese is hiding in Korea with Cobra Kai. Johnny has embraced Miyagido. And he continues to show a newly won maturity as he waits for the arrival of his daughter.
But things started to fray around the edges. Daniel and Chosin find a box of Miyagi's secrets, and it turns out that the great man might have murdered a person during a petty robbery.
Kreese finally is able to cast off the last of his humanity, as he learns one last lesson from his old Sensai, and figures out that it wasn't Silver that was his weakness, but Johnny.
Meanwhile Daniel and Johnny's relationship starts to fall apart. And tragically Tory's mother dies sending her in a tail spin, and the prediction that Kreese gave to Tory in her mind becomes true.
So as we walk into the final Sekai Takai tournament, we know that Johnny and Daniel's relationship is damaged. Kreese has stepped back into the limelight, and Tory, has joined a team of absolutely ruthless murder bots.
Overall a really good start to the last year.

Watched the first 3 episodes, and I'm still enjoying it. Although it's definitely starting to feel a little long in the tooth, so I'm glad this is the final season.
Overall this show has been such an entertaining guilty pleasure over the last few years, so hopefully they'll go out with a bang.
Spoiler!
Johnny hosting "Miyagi-Do After Dark" was hilarious. William Zabka continues to kill it in every scene he's in.

So . . . which of our hero's is getting their neck snapped in the ring? You know they're setting it up for that.
I expect Tory is going to murder Sam in their fight on national TV. We're going to get the thunderous neck snap and the twitching Sam Body, and Daniel completely going mental case.
There is literally no way, that something extremely bad isn't going to happen.

It's pretty zany and bordering on even too much for the series, but it's staying true to the formula. But you are really seeing that these kids are no longer kids. I did like that they a few of them are now in college (Skyler) and work with the aging a bit.
Binged the latest 5 episodes this afternoon. This show just continues to be pure joy, and I loved every second of it. S*** got dark in that 10th episode though. Damn!
And now we have to wait another 3 months to finish it. Booooo!
Yeah that was fun, especially the last episode! Overall the show is corny, but the producers lean into it which is at least honest. And, some of the messaging in the show is wholesome in media world where that type of message is becoming rarer and rarer. Looking forward to the final episodes!
The least convincing actress on this show especially when it comes to karate themes is the one who plays Daniels daughter. They seem to do a lot of cut aways from her in the show.
I think though whoever did the choreography on the brawl in episode 10 and did the camera work did an awesome job of it.

Yeah I feel kind of bad for that actress. She is horribly miscast as a karate master and they film around her all the time.
Just caught up. I think a pretty good step up from the previous season. Agreed, Sam has always felt the least believable. I was hoping they were having Devon sort of supplant her as the #2 woman fighter. Sam can still be a main character while not being one of the best fighters. The selections of who went to the tournament were silly. Demetri's a clown who obviously doesn't care about the tournament why would you bring him? Was kinda of hoping Demetri would drop out and Kyler would show up. That guy should get more screen time.
Wasn't a fan of the final turning into an all out brawl. What I was HOPING would happen:
- Tory Beats Sam in semis and they are friends again.
- Robby gives Miguel captaincy before semis, Miguel beats Big Man, but ends up injured so Keene has to fight finals.
-Robby beats Kwon.
I guess that could still happen. I kind of wish they kept the drama a bit more kid-success/failure oriented and less about Kreese and Silver trying to murder each other or trying to "take over the karate world" whatever that means. More interested in Miguel, Robby and Tory and less so in the adults and their drama.

It does leave it open to how the tournament is going to continue?
Usually when you have a murder or death at a major televised sporting event that's the end of it.
I really want Tory to win this thing, I mean its aiming that way, but she's become a really sympathetic character through this whole thing.
I want the enormous cyborg to win the whole thing, I really do.
We kind of know that the shift is going to be a final battle with Kreese and Silver to the death so to speak in the jungles of Vietnam over a snake pit. At least they should find a way to to that, and Kreese finds his humanity again and pulls Silver up, only for Johnny to punch a hole through Silvers chest.
Surprise.
We will probably find out the Mr Miyagi killed that man in self defense and the dude he killed was Cobra Kai.
Or that My Miyagi was a psycho all along.

Yeah. I was/am pretty disinterested in the Miyagi backstory. It seems fairly obvious to me that Miyagi accidentally killed a guy in a tournament. That's why he hates tournaments. Either Kim's son or that Miyagi was Cobra Kai. Might be interesting if there was some Japanese-Korean occupation backstory without looking up if that timeline would work out at all.
I'd rather see actual competitions between the top kids.
