Default McDavid the 99th player to log 1000 points. Who's the 100th?

Mods a poll may be in order,

So Connor McDavid is the 99th player to get to 1000 points. Who will be the 100th? Well there are 5 choices.

Brad Marchand - Born 1988, 942 points, 1047 games played.

Nathan MacKinnon - Born 1995, 932 points, 808 games played.

Jamie Benn - Born 1989, 915 points, 1127 games played.

Corey Perry - Born 1985, 909 points, 1327 games played.

Nikita Kucherov - Born 1993, 897 points, 740 games played.

Fun bonus, if Spezza unretires he just needs 5 more points.

MacKinnon. Plus he's actually got a cup.

I am surprised that Spezza didn't stick around to get 5 more points. I think he could've latch on to a bottom feeder like Arizona or Anaheim for league minimum for one more season to get that done.

Is there a current Flames player who might get 1000?
Huberdeau is 270 away
Kadri is 350 away

Any prospect with high offensive upside?

MacKing is next and looks much better than McStatsPadder this season.

Kessel was only 8 points away. Sometimes the body breaks down. Sometimes stats don't matter enough to lose another year of family time.

I think it was more Spezza and Kessel both weren't offered contracts

I would say Huberdeau if there's no compliancy buyouts. For all the disappointment around his production as a Flame he'll likely get 50 points a season the next 4 which would give him 3 years to get another 47.

You mean 97 wasn’t the first? The way Sportsnet was going on and on and on this afternoon I figured it had never been done before.

Agree with the consensus MacKinnon pick, here, but wow, Kucherov's numbers are impressive when you look at games played.

It was funny on the broadcast. Jack Michaels exclaimed that McDavid joins Wayne Gretzky in the 1,000 point club.

Although not untrue, a very dumb way of putting it (and insinuating McDavid is chasing Wayne's points).

Wayne is in the 1,000 club, the 2,000 club and the sole member of the 2,500 club.

Only 99? would have thought a lot more.

And wow, the 89 Flames were stacked. Fleury, Gilmour, MacInnis, McDonald, Mullen, Nieuwendyk

Can't bring myself to give a #### about point 1000, and even less for someone like McDavid. Point 1001, 999, and 1000 are all the same. A point, just in the order they're in due to that thing we're all well familiar with. The passage of time.

He didn't break a record, or pass someone significant. Big meh.

Meanwhile, Vasilevskiy became the 40th goalie to 300 wins and the fastest to get there. Not that Sportsnet cares or anything.

MacKinnon will likely get there this season, if he is healthy.
