RFK has said he does not believe that there is a safe vaccine of any kind on the market in the US. He believes in the ridiculous theory that DDT was the root of polio outbreaks, not the polio virus itself. He also claims polio vaccines cause type 1 diabetes. He’s also claimed the measles vaccine causes Crohn’s disease. He has said the DTP vaccine significantly raises the risk of infant mortality (a lie), claimed the vaccine for Hep B received only five days of testing (a lie), claimed influenza vaccines are four times more likely to send a child to the hospital than if they didn’t get one at all (a lie), most of the time relying on unreplicated single studies or debunked information put out by grifters. You could go on and on. He is probably the last person in America you would want in this job for this alone.

RFK Jr's own family publicly issued a statement earlier this year completely distancing themselves from this man. I'm sure Republicans and posters like Hackey and GullFloss get horny over hearing that because that's somehow awesome and probably counter culture, but it's quite a serious indictment on him and the path that he's currently on.

I have several friends that are just like him. Same rabbit holes, same lack of understanding about anything anymore. It's so difficult to stand by them, but I do because I know this isn't them. They're just lost and it's important to be there and hope they find some sense of reality again.

I very much doubt they are coming back though. The cult of social media misinformation is really unlike anything we've ever seen before. Unlike most cults we've previously seen this one is making rich people and shareholders ungodly amounts of money, or offering them incredible political power, so there is no incentive for those people to try and change anything. The rubes at the bottom still get the sense of community and belonging that helps drive so many cults, and the rich and powerful at the top get to keep making money off that. Short of government intervention it's pretty tough to see it doing anything but growing over time.
