Yeah, the Trump/Hitler comparisons need to stop. Caligula and Nero are much more apt.
Quote:
For the early part of his reign, he is said to have been "good, generous, fair and community-spirited" but increasingly self-indulgent, cruel, sadistic, extravagant and sexually perverted thereafter; an insane, murderous tyrant who demanded and received worship as a living god, humiliated his Senate, and planned to make his horse a consul.
Lets just fix that up..

Fuzz - "He didn't speak to the media before the election, either."
I recall that being quite controversial amongst the SNL people themselves who didn't want him on the show, but given the amount of airtime for Hillary and Obama, I think they felt they needed to have him on as well.
Oh I can see the average American not knowing how much of a POS he was before entered the race - they mostly knew him by name rather than any other reason - but once he started campaigning, it quickly became evident who he was.

But he hadn't even won the primaries yet, Iowa was still 3 months away. He went to a debate 2 days later in Milwaukee with still 10 candidates left

I've been talking to a few Trumpers I run across, trying to be a bit less confrontational and have come to realize they simply do not care about any of the unhinged nonsense he spews. Character, integrity and honesty are not important to them, they don't think having a disgusting person in a position of power is destructive or even the wrong way to go.
It's tough to accept, but they buy into the carny tricks and think Trump in charge will be better for North America's economy so f everything else. Quite myopic, it's sad.

A lot of Trump voters just see all politicians as pieces of crap....and they aren't totally wrong. All the Trump supporters I've talked to tell me how sneaky and deceiving the Clintons and Bidens are, and take some brevity in Trump being more honest about his faults.
They ignore the personalities, which they see as universally bad, and just go with the guy who's going to do the best for the economy.
There is definitely some truth to this argument. But what a sorry state of affairs that the Democrats can't find anyone that comes across as remotely solid in character enough to outcompete Trump. Do better.

The guy who can never admit he's wrong is honest about his faults? American voters are so unserious.

They're all better in character in Trump. Like way, way, way better.
But that doesn't matter anymore. The guy is a felon, rapist, racist and liar. And won. Because lying, conspiracies, fear and stupidity rule now. Health care, education, etc? LOL, who cares. You gotta lie, get people scared/angry about something and get them motivated to get out and vote for you. Doesn't matter if it's going to help the country or not. In fact, a lot of Americans would like to see a large part of their population suffer. They just want to see their team win.

Aren't Gaetz and Gabbard both suspected of being Russian stooges? This is wild.
Man, this sort of stuff is so ridicously corrupt... To then have this guy go up as nominee for Attorney General?! Also, I'm assuming the release date of this stuff would have been kept on the DL.... So, who's the mole here that let Gaetz know?

If I were a CIA agent in any sort of vulnerable op, I'd be quitting now. American intelligence is going to take a huge hit.
I've been comparing Trump to Sulla since 2016. He's the rich guy that shows how easy it could be to ruin the republic but dies before actually doing it. Caesar is watching somewhere.
If we follow the analogy perfectly then the Caesar analog is probably the offspring of someone formerly powerful that Trump has severely disadvantaged over the last decade. Liz Cheney perhaps?
