Draisaitl for Andersson and Coleman would give the Soilers their best chance at a Cup. Heck, I’d even throw in Rooney.

Savoie and their two 2nds, minimum.

If they're going for it, they might as well empty the reserves.

We could forecast when the Oilers crash will happen and go for a couple number 1 overall picks. Maybe their firsts in 2028 and 2029?

If Mcdavid walks summer of 2026 they'll be in the lottery that next draft, no doubt about that. Dissentowners guarantee of him leaving has my hopes up

I imagine Katz will hand him $150 million in signing bonus money. I don't see any other organization matching that. Money is usually always the ultimate deciding factor so I think he's going to stay an Oiler but if they don't get a deal done prior to the season as they did with Draisaitl it will be an indication that signing bonus money won't cut it and he wants out.

Most of the big contracts now are structured with a large percentage of the money being paid as signing bonuses. That won't be a hinderance to any team offering a UFA contract to McDavid, if it comes to that.

Big teams would match that for sure. The Leafs would give even more for a chance at McDavid.

And McDavid might be inclined to go home.

For Andersson - no thanks.

(even ignoring that it's Edmonton - that is just a bad return)

2027 1st for Rasmus Anderson.

Then, with either our 1st or Edmonton's 1st, we draft Dupont.

If the Oilers flop this year, if they don't take advantage of their window this year, do you even fight that hard to keep McDavid, or do you throw up your hands and create one of the greatest bidding wars for your future in NHL history.

Heck if I was the Oilers GM, I would find a way to maximize McDavid before a new contract lowers his trade value.

Can you imagine what they could get into terms of future pieces next year?

No chance they accept defeat like that. The outrage from the sweatpant wearers would sink the franchise. They'll try until its official that he's signed somewhere else

Right? I still remember the effigies of Pocklington being burned en masse up there

NHL.com headline mid-game as soon as McStats reached 1000 points:
'Mcdavid gets 1000th NHL point, fastest to reach milestone'. They forgot to add, 'but still hasn't won a cup.'

Pretty easy to score 1000 points quickly with that much talent and even greater ability to care about nothing but scoring points.

Don’t go to Sportsnet tonight. Banner story on Mavi, plus 6 videos totaling almost 10 minutes of gushing including 2 by pissy and even pere Mavi gets a video.

4th fastest is good I guess…and probably gets a banner.

Does Sportsnet not get that the more they ram Mavi through our collective throats, the less 31 franchises even care?

All of this happened btw as the Oilers absolutely pummeled and ran over the last place team in the league 3-2 in overtime.
