Rumour that Liam Miller has done his ACL and is done for the season. Seriously sucks for him. I really like his game and playing in the championship is a huge boon for the national team. Hopefully it won’t set him back and he can push on to 2026

Dammit, I really thought he was coming into his own lately. He was a spark when he'd come on.

Both the club and Millar confirmed he is out for the year.
That means left wing is Shaffelburg's for the time being, although I think he had already earned it over Millar with his performances in the summer. Millar was good as a first player off the bench providing some spark and direct attack.

Personally I think Miller is the far superior player to Shaff and he’ll be missed. Miller had an injury that derailed the end of last season for him and I’d be willing to bet contributed to his up and down summer play. With rhythm and minutes he shows his value. I really like Shaff, don’t get me wrong, and he brings a fantastic element of pace and hustle to the team, but there’s a reason one is a MLS borderline starter and one is in the Championship

I think my favorite thing about Shaff is not even his play or performance (although he's been phenomenal), but rather his nickname Maritime Messi.
The diehard Messi fanboys probably hate that lol.

CSA announced they received the third party review into the drone scandal and will give next steps within a week.
Quote:
“Our initial review of the conclusions of the independent investigator reveals that the drone incident in Paris was a symptom of a past pattern of an unacceptable culture and insufficient oversight within the national teams. While we are being thoughtful about how best to address the findings, we also want to move decisively. To that end, we will release key conclusions and next steps within a week.”

I will give Blue personally the benefit of the doubt. He's trying.
But he's got layers and layers of crap to wade through with that organization, that has nothing to do with drones. Blame game will have all the sanctimonious board members, who have been there longer than others, pinning this on since departed people (Herdman, Preistman and underlings) while the board and those still with the organization will be left relatively unscathed.

Bev Priestman sacked, but John Herdman was not interviewed due to "scheduling concerns." Sounds like quite the in-depth third-party view. Great job, Canada.

It's pretty clear everyone knew, and they aren't going to fire everyone. They've lined up their 2 scapegoats and will move on. If anything, we've finally bloomed as a true CONCACAF nation through our commitment to cheating.

I don’t think they should fire anyone. Investigate, have a strongly worded conversation and issue a statement, and move along.

Yeah Herdman probably has enough dirt on some of the supposedly pious employees of the CSA, so instead the witch hunt and finger pointing ends at Preistman and those caught in Paris, to give people and governments and the COC their pound of flesh.
CSA is good at sweeping a lot of stuff under the rug so that's what happens here with everything else.
A lot of HR manual-type promises of reform in the words and comments, though I did find it interesting that they're going to (in theory) recraft the board based on supposed skill sets.
Will see when I believe and likely everything like that will get pushed after the WC anyways; no way sweeping changes happen at the CSA as the gravy train WC rolls closer and closer.

I randomly bumped into Jay Herdman after Cavalry won. I said congrats on the win, is your dad here watching? Jay very hurriedly said his dad was here but 'already left the stadium' which I thought was weird. I guess maybe Jay thought I wanted to ask John about the scandal, but I merely wanted to shake the man's hand for the WC appearance. So I just said tell your dad thanks for the memories.
It is telling that John Herdman was just able to skip out on the inquiry because it was inconvenient.

If you're Herdman, why would you agree to participate in the inquiry? No obligation to do so, and no upside at all.

Why go to the trouble of paying for an "in-depth third party review" when the number one suspect can just politely excuse himself from questioning?

It was all a farce. Remember, Marsch's title is MLS Canada Men’s National Team Head Coach.
Why would one of the 3 MLS clubs who 'sponsor' the position of national team coach allow their main man be questioned by that organization?

Finally a game tonight and we can stop talking about the off field junk for a few days at least
Go in, get a result against Suriname, and bring it back to Toronto in good position.
Nations League is especially important to maximize the number of competitive matches ahead of 2026.

I'm curious to see who starts on the wing and at CB alongside Bombito. Is it Miller or Waterman? Maybe Knight-Lebel gets a few minutes as a sub?
I'm assuming Shaffelburg starts on the left wing but I don't know if you can throw Buchanan in a starting spot right away. Ahmed? Hoilett? Choiniere maybe?

It's Waterman alongside Bombito, Oluwaseyi in over Larin who apparently has a knock and St. Clair starting as he has the hot club form.
I've always rated Jacen Russell-Rowe over Oluwaseyi but Marsch loves Tani. Curious to see what he does.
