My feeling is that we'll see a "Reichstag Fire" incident followed by the imposition of the Insurrection Act giving the President sweeping powers to suspend civil rights (with no timetable for lifting it).
I'm reading Putin's People by Belton. My thought reading it is that I think it's fairly likely that Trump has an incident to seize additional powers once elected.
The current billionaire class makes more money from the current system then disrupting the stability of the IS democracy. The US dollar being the worlds reserve currency has such huge value that the appearance of democracy and stability will be maintained.
Because then you can take away crap loads of money from the billionaire class and give it to a handful of cronies and family members, Trump and Musk don't care about the US economy anymore than Putin cares about the Russian
As I said, it's impossible to deport a citizen, where are they going to go? Only extradition exists and even then, there has to be agreements. Almost only because of crime. Don't buy into the fear, there are UN conventions about this.
Deportations of illegals may increase but even that might not be feasible. Probably ends up being an unfulfilled campaign promise.
As GGG said, the republicans aren't going to buck the system that's already rigged for them.
I think you may be quite naive here. Miller is already talking about denaturalization. Plus, this administration is not going to care about details like this. The rules don’t really apply. If you want to know what’s going to happen, go read Red Notice by Bill Browder. When you have complete control of the executive, legislative and judicial branches and they all support a despot, you can make up the rules that support what you want to do.
Trump idolizes authoritarian strong men. His policy people are extremist hyper-nationalist and specifically white nationalist. There are no more adults holding him back.

Because they will target very specific groups. It’s the non-whites who are the problem. Same thing with illegal immigrants. The majority of them are like Musk. People who overstayed their visa, not migrants who crossed the southern border. But these policies, they’re going to target non-whites, and they will be indiscriminate about true citizenship.
