Too bad, really feel for the guy as he was trying to establish a different reputation as a more consistent performer. Based on his interviews, he seemed like a good dude.

I wasn't convinced he was returning much at the deadline and I'd rather just stay away from the pump and dump strategy for the most part unless Flames are gaining assets a la Kuzmenko.

I had hopes for Mantha but throw hockey out of this for a second.

A major knee surgery at 30 is not something people bounce back from. I hope he recovers and this isn't the end of his career.

Sucks for Mantha for sure, I hope he bounces back after a successful surgery.

He came exactly as advertised. He could be largely invisible for a night, and then make a meaningful play.

13GP, 4G, 3A, 7PTS, 11PIM, and a +6.

He will. This isn't 1984.

... but if he was 31..

I liked Mantha. He brought some nice goals to the table. And some jam. I would not be opposed to bringing him back on a one year deal for next season.

Outperforming most oilers too!

Good luck for the surgery and recovery to him. Hopefully there’s some nhlpa insurance for situations like this. And he had relatives in to watch the game in Montreal too.

I’m sure that I should have memorized this, but is this straight IR with no salary cap implications for flames?

There is no salary cap benefit to putting him on LTIR, unless they were to acquire at least $18M in cap, and then put him on LTIR.

Awful news for the team and player. Hopefully it's an easy recovery for Mantha's sake.

Who knows maybe we'll win 10 in a row and buy all in this year, haha we can dream!

Maybe we can trade him to a team that is already in LTIR and wants more room. 😂

That sucks for Mantha. You just know he was looking to secure a multi year deal. He might have to settle for another 1 year show me contract now.

Jan 1, throw $3m re-signing offer at him. Club cares, club wants to get that asset come spring ‘26, let the player focus on rehab exclusively.

Or just pay him what he's owed and move on.

Sucks at his age with his contract situation. I didn't want him, but now that he's here I was hoping he'd have a great year, get us a haul at the TDL and a good contract for himself next summer. Bummer for all involved.

That's too bad he only managed 15 shots on net out of the 300 they were planning in preseason.

He looked great in the first couple of games of the season. I thought he even fixed Huberdeau, but it seems that the French Canadians are cursed with this squad.

Hopefully he heals fully and doesn't get discouraged by the long way to recovery. I also hope that our ownership doesn't get discouraged by the $3M sunk cost, and keeps investing in generating more draft capital for this team.
