Decent comparison, difference is 5 year max term contracts s in the NBA and he is a free agent after this year. They don't allow teams to handcuff themselves the way they can in the NHL.

Guy Chouinard.

lol that’s not fair to Huberdeau.

Simmons is a loser. He got hurt feelings and quit on 1 team and quit on the other. He has played like 20 games for Brooklyn.

At least Huberdeau isn’t faking injuries.

Not at all a good comparison. Simmons quit on his team and since signing with the nets has missed 189 of 256 possible games, Huberdeau not only has played 179 of 183 games with the flames, he’s also never quit on the team. He isnt producing to what was expected, yes, but the Simmons comparison is so far from reality, it’s laughable.

He just needs to find a way to be half way consistent. Being held off the scoresheet in 9 of 16 games doesn't scream worthy of $10.5 million contract.

Huberdeau and Kuzmenko looked great together last night - like they both fed off one another.

They’re the two highest-skill players on the team, so I can see worse ideas than putting them together and seeing what happens.

Huberdeau is half way to his 82 game goal total last year in 16 games..
On pace for 30 goals. I'd say that's getting better so far.

He looked super engaged last night. Even ignoring the goal, he was making checks, blocking pucks and winning board battles.

I realize that's not indicative of someone who is worth $10.5 a year, but if that's what youre fixating on, you're missing a possible resurgence in his game. In his prior two seasons, he rarely did those little things away from the puck. He looked lost, ineffective, unfocused and unwilling to engage.

But now he is increasingly engaging with a real sense of purpose in all areas of the game and all over the ice. And I think doing all the little things right is generally the precursor for big things start to come together. That's my hope anyways.

He was also noticeably engaged in a couple scrums. Maybe that got him mad and he stepped up his physical play from then on

And a 21 assist pace, so 51 points, about the same. I agree though visually he seems more engaged in the physical aspect so hopefully that translates to more points

Also he’s better at getting assists. So the assists will come but his 115 pt season was 30 goals.
