It looks as though it might be fun, but whats 'Star Wars' about it? They borrowed blasters, ship design, all new characters, etc.
It kind of reminds me of 'Joker.' Its an interesting premise but you're leaning on a Franchise for marketing purposes rather than story-telling purposes.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I actually don't have a problem with this and even the mood fits in with previous Star Wars works. These seems a lot more Star Warsy than the Ewoks movies:
They could have made the design of that elephant more like the previous design:
Once again, I like the direction of keeping the kids stuff clearly in that sphere, as opposed to trying to cram overly family friendly content into the main star wars offerings.
The SW universe is also an entire galaxy far far away. There's room for all sorts of adventure there that don't involve a few dozen individuals.
If they made the elephant more like the old one it would scare the children.
They didn't have to make it exactly like Max Rebo. The Jabba bar elephant, I'm assuming, has made some bad decisions in life to end up as a member of the bar band in a gangster's hideout on Tatooine. That elephant has led a rough life.
They could have tweeked the design of the ears and the shape of the head to make it look a little bit more like Max Rebo.
Simon Kinberg reportedly hired to write and produce the next Star Wars Trilogy. This trilogy will feature new cast and story and not be a continuation of the Skywalker Saga.

Thank god. I’m so sick of everything having to tie into the Skywalker saga. SW is a big universe, and you could tell so many different & cool stories without having to go back to the OG trilogy well over and over again.
I'd prefer that as bad as the ST was, and its a shame because the cast tried really hard to over come it, but that's where the Skywalker saga should end, period.
I would love to see them take the new trilogy back thousands of years, maybe they could do something with the founding of the Sith, or the rounding of the republic, or the thousand years of darkness.
But I'm not interesting in seeing any more of the current age in a trilogy.

Thankfully that's been debunked and it will be totally new and separate.
Allegedly a soft reboot to star wars. If KK and the old guard are overseeing it though I don't know how it doesn't end up suffering from the same problems as their other recent projects.
Hopefully Kinberg understands and respects Lucas' OG universe and can capture the same tone, aesthetic and originality (that didn't conform to the usual tropes of mainstream films).
And for the love of Darth, please put political agendas on the back bburner. Just tell a good, cohesive story!

the Saga can end at the Mando movie with cool Luke in his prime. The projectile vomit that was the ST can be retconned into a black hole.

You'd think that, with all the different tv shows, they have some idea of what works and what doesn't. The concern is that they try to make the new movies appeal to as wide of an audience or out too much emphasis on an overly political yet also clumsy message.

I liked the political agenda in the OT, to me it really made Palpatine a unique threat. He didn't need to use the Force to bring down the Jedi, he used the system, and the corruption of the republic.
I always thought it was brilliant and used really well in the CW series, where Palpatine only whipped out the force once before the final events of Order 66.
