Some community centres one a month do 5-20 pounds of random produce for like $2.50-1.50 a pound. I haven't subscribed to it, but I've been Curious.

If you like bacon I'd hit Walmart. Their Mitchell packs are $3.97 (not sure when it ends) and they have been tasting great. Just as good as any of the standard $7-$9 packs you get anywhere these days. Just have to fish for the good cuts as that makes a huge difference in taste.

T&T is great for a bit of variety and the occasional scorching deal.

Fish, duck and veggies in particular.

Use Flash food. I buy apples for the deer at my place in Priddis. I just got 8 lbs. of apples for $3. Then I got 3 other boxes of mixed apples, probably 28 to 30 lbs. in total, all for $11

Their mushrooms are spectacular... as are their green beans when they have them in stock.

Call me racist, but I am surprised to see an increasing number of non-Asian (white) people shopping at the Deerfoot Meadows T&T over the past couple of years.

Black Friday and Boxing Day should also include huge sales on groceries.

For whatever reason eggs are about half the price at shoppers drug Mart. Omega 3 and sometimes free range for $4-5. They are $7.50 plus everywhere else. Also their bacon and butter is cheaper. 500g packs of bacon guy $5. I'll go in to buy those stairs and quickly look around for other deals there.

Meat is always cheaper at the butcher, and it's always much better quality. Occasionally I'll buy roasts on sale at the regular grocery store.

The holiday times are prime time for lost leaders, although not like we use to see. Turkeys, hams, potatoes and baking items are always on sale around Thanksgiving and Christmas. The best time of the year to purchase these items.

I remember 20 years ago (when I was a retail Meat Manager) we were losing 30 cents per pound on .99 cent/ lb turkeys. And back the hams were $1.99/lb and you can still find them on sale for this same price nowadays. Pork prices have fluctuated over the years but the sale prices on most items are the same as they were in 2005. Tenderloins and back ribs often on sale for for between $3 and $4 per pound and side ribs and boneless loins for between $2 and $3/ pounds.

Agreed, use this all the time!

LOL.

We ate fish. He asked me how to cut tf if I know, I said just make chunks.

When I went out of the store, he was hiding like some thief, did you get it? Yeah, I did, there goes the cat house this week.

I got duck on sale at T&T before. It’s not something that I would normally buy but because it was cheap, I went for it. I can see why people like it so much. I go in all the time to see but haven’t seen it on sale since.

That's actually interesting because I've only ever seen Asians buy live fish at places like T&T and we'll almost always buy it whole. We'll get the worker to clean, gut and scale for us. If I'm not cooking the fish whole, I'll take it home and portion myself and do fillets if necessary.
