Used to love their chicken ceasar pita. That was almost as sad of a day as when McDonald's axed their pizza.

Based on the description, I’m gonna side with Sliver on this one. Over the top behaviour is not the same as your regular “sports fan” catching the game at the pub. At the 15 game mark, giving a cheer when your team scores, fist pump, etc.? Sure. Solo guy pounding the table and hollering? Settle down spaz. Probably the same guy that rushes down and pounds on the glass when the play is in the corner.

I dunno, then go to a restaurant without TVs? Sports fan cheering for sports at a pub? Better fetch my fainting couch

Problem with Calgary(away from downtown), is you are likely to only have one or two places nearby, and they probably have TVs. If you just want to walk to dinner, the choices can be slim to none.

Yup I'm with Sliver on this one too

A quick cheer and clap for a few seconds, something like that, no problemo. But other than that, read and match the energy of the room. If it's a big game with plenty of others also into it, bsolutely, go nuts. But a prolonged over-the-top celebration when it's literally just you? That's weird as hell

The mistake was going to a sports bar and expecting it to not be a sports bar.

Was it a sports bar though? From his description it didn't sound like it, but then again the fun thing with Sliver rgmg posts is we only get a narrow window of the world as he sees it

I agree that the guy is not behaving as he should for a nothing game in the regular season. But there is also ways a guy at a neighbourhood pub that is way to into whatever is on the TV. That’s not changing, so if it bugs you go elsewhere.

Maybe that goal won the guy a $500 bet?

The worst part of that story is that apparently only one person in a bar in Calgary cared enough about one of the best Flames' comeback wins in a long time.

Brewsters is like a slightly elevated Boston Pizza and you should seriously question anyone who goes there to drink or watch a game.

What, and leave Bonavista to go somewhere else? Are you crazy?

Brewsters had some good beer until the micro/craft brew explosion hit.

Their beer sucks. Their food sucks. Everything is overpriced.

Their location rules. That's all they have going for them.

Yeah I used to love their beer back when my brother worked in their brewery. I think he said something like they changed some providers for their hops and whatnot and I haven't liked it since.
This is like 10+ years ago now mind you.

I never like their food or most of their restaurants, but the Bonavista one always felt more like a neighborhood pub than the rest of their locations. Before they renovated at least

Brewsters is still in business? That place sucked 10 years ago.
