Don't mistake what I'm saying about Americans as my own perspective.
Women's rights, gay rights, trans rights, minority rights are all important to me, but they're only somewhat important to the average American.
The truth about where Americans priorities are isn't great, and that's why the voted for Trump.

FFS, those were not the primary focus points. The only one out of those that Harris even remotely ran on was womens' reproductive rights. The rest was all Trump and his cronies saying they were issues.
Harris ran on a middle class tax cut and higher taxes for wealthy and corporations, a child tax credit, housing initiatives, anti-price gouging and drug cost measures, and not being a fascist.

Sorry, too late. That door is closed. Elections are no longer required, at least free and fair elections. Lara Trump said yesterday that they want to nationalize elections: https://www.newsweek.com/lara-trump-...ration-1981845
I don't have to tell you how that will go, do I?

I’m pretty confident it’s going to be Newsom running in 28.
He ate DeSatin.

It very likely will. Feels like we're in an era where we will see flip-flops back and forth as low information voters take over and go into every election mad at the incumbent.

FFS, the argument presented was Harris should have ran on more progressive policies, I DID NOT SAY SHE DID.
I said IF she had ran more progressive, she would have lost worse.
If reproductive rights wasn't enough for voters, those other issues sure as hell wouldn't have been.

Guys, chill out. This had nothing to do with policies.

Gonna be seeing a lot of stories of high speed chases as traffic stops turn into deportation stops. Desperate people with guns aren't a great combination. Not that anyone thinks of consequences of their policies these days.

Calling over 70 million people racists and misogynists is the antithesis of critical thinking.

I don't think people should be allowed to stay illegally, but if they do enter and at least declare that they are there and going through the system to try and get asylum, the process should be quick enough that they aren't having kids in the mean time. But for sure, you shouldn't have people sneaking in undocumented and countries have the responsibility to control who comes in. I don't agree with Trump's methods though because it still has to be a respectful and humane process.
It's a little different in Canada though. We have people here who come in undocumented and live with family and work under the table, but it's harder to live off of the grid here if you want health care so people tend to not do it unless they have a strong support system.
|
The reason Canada deports parents of Canadian born children is pretty simple, we didn't used to but about 25 years ago the snakeheads realized if their drug dealers got local girls preggers they couldn't be deported and so they began preying on teenage native girls mostly in care, getting them pregnant at 15 and 16, we had thousands of girls giving birth to mixed race kids and so they changed the law, for the last 20 years around half the kids in my foster home (basically all the indigenous kids) had a Salvadorian Honduran or Guatemalan absentee father, we are just getting to the end of this but I still have a 21 year old at my house whose mum was in care and dad is Salvadorian
