Not just Edmonton media. Chris Johnson on TSN said that McDavid is a fast healer and always returns early.
Many people were jokingly saying that Mavi would be back for the flames game…and in reality, he missed one extra game!
Pissy gonna be uhhhh…pissy because he doesn’t get to be first line centre again.

How do you go from 2 to 3 weeks to one week. Sounds like he should.have been day to day. No wonder he brought his own doctors in.

They can make him stronger and faster!! They have the technology!
But going through airport metal detectors might be a bit of a bitch for the rest of his life...

Either check him for steroid use.
Or wonder if Edmonton is rushing him back Varsity Blues style because they're in a panic, and Conna is going to pay for it down the road.

I would bet he is having PRP injections. With his conditioning and health, it should speed the healing.

i look at it like how i quote a job.... "oh that's going to cost up to $1000", knowing full well it will come in at $850-$900. you give the customer the invoice for $900 and they are pumped it's $100 less.
it's all mind games

Oiler fans seem to have turned aggressively on Bouchard. It’s a shame, I was hoping his regression would come after his 11m contract was signed.

Maybe this will push Bouch Balm to 'dig in' and have a hot couple months and shoot for 12M. He's a future HOFer, after all, along with RNH.

It took a historic PP to get them to almost but not quite win the cup
they now have the worst PK in NHL history after 14 games

It’s satisfying to see the oilers changes in the offseason making them a worse team. It was obvious to most of us on here but it “somehow” eluded the Sportsnet and TSN talking heads. The oilers got older and slower. They basically sent out every depth forward that played any kind of defensive game so that they could sign old, one-dimensional forwards that mostly only produce when given big minutes.
They have no first round pick to trade this year for help. Their goaltending looks awful. Their defence is awful. They have a Stanley cup hangover without the Stanley cup. I would not be surprised if they end up missing the playoffs by a few points.

I've just been used to the Oilers supposedly getting better every off-season for as long as I can remember.
It's never not been the narrative. In fact, they can virtually do no wrong.
Ship off Macleod and Foegele?
Didn't need 'em!
Add undersized guy made of glass and a 'cursed' winger that's been a key component of non-playoff teams his entire career?
There's never been depth this stacked!
Move Ceci to match the offersheets?
Genius!
Actually they're not matching the offer sheets?
Masterclass in GMing!
####. We should just be raising banners every week.

Don’t forget about signing players that no one else in the league wants: “they’ve reformed because they were misunderstood!”.
Questionable characters in the board room? “You should see what the rest of us got up to nudge nudge wink wink.”
Young players that sign offer sheets? “Unproven bums who valued money over “winning” and good riddance because they would have destroyed the locker room.”
Veterans always have “better” offers from elsewhere but take discounts to play with Mavi.
Salary cap? It’s an nhl anti oilers construct that leaves them a bobby nick burger under it. So they go with a smaller roster and then complain that they don’t have enough players when someone gets injured.
Traded for future Norris winner with 35 nhl games career to play with future Norris winner nurse and he’s already been in the press box! But wait! Play him for 40 games and he becomes a UFA!
Haha these write themselves!

In his first game back McAvi had a team high 21 minutes of ice time and was -1. Drai was second with 19:58 of ice time and was also -1. Neither registered a point. Good to see the workload is as heavy as always so early in the season, all while being futile.

Didn't Roethlisberger always hype up his injuries so he could play warrior and come back early?
Given some of the oddity we've seen from Edmonton in the last 20 years it wouldn't surprise me at all.

It blows my mind that many are leaning on the fact that they were bad last season at the start too. As if rattling off a Moneyball Oakland A's heater of a win streak is simply something they'll be able to conjure up at will. I feel like 40 things all went right for them in the perfect moments last year, but a lot of the fanbase sees it as a regular string of events.

Unless I am mistaken, Edmonton has not spent a single minute in a playoff position this season, and Thanksgiving is a mere couple weeks away. Here we go
