Habs were better in the first but Wolf kept is scoreless...Flames were better overall for periods 2 and 3
Linesman need to learn what offside is and how to call a game on the fly

That was the perfect game from a Flames fan point of view with three of their top prospects heavily factoring in on the win. Hopefully this can be the start of a breakout for Coronato as it should help build confidence.

Coronato since he came back up has been getting better each game. Hopefully he’s starting to round into the sniper he’s earmarked to be. This team is really missing that right now along with a powerplay. If both of those could somehow come alive I think the Flames could do a lot of damage

Thanks for the write up. I needed it because the SNW feed was unwatchable. Switched over to the Philly game, and the feed was fine. I think it’s Rogers messing with people hoping they’ll upgrade their subscription. Using Montreal game to annoy people that don’t have a premium subscription.

I have a SN+ Premium subscription, it did the same thing.

I have SN Premium as well. I switched to the Canadien’s feed, which ironically is TSN and it was not glitching.

The TSN feed being available was odd, as I live in Sask which is the Flames broadcast region, which means that Habs feed should have been blacked out. Its like they knew the SN feed (their own) was bad and just kept the Habs one available.

The penalty kill could use a some help too. In my view, both sides of special teams come back to centres. We need to be winning more faceoffs. They are the key to both sides of special teams. 42.6% in the faceoff dot is going to make it tough to get setup.

Agreed. Getting scored a lot on a lot via set plays following lost faceoffs, as well, particularly on the PK. That, and lazy clearing attempts, which are driving me bonkers. And maybe a little too much pinching by the D, the odd-man rushes against are just crazy this season.

It's more on the PK TBH.
Power Play:
Flames Total: 40 / 75 - 53% (15th)
Backlund: 9 / 15 - 60%
Kadri: 24 / 48 - 50%
So both main centers are 50% or better on the powerplay.
It's the PK that's been the major issue:
Flames Total: 30 / 83 - 36.1% (30th)
Backlund: 21 / 56 - 37.5%
Kirkland: 3 / 12 - 25%
Then even strength as a whole hasn't been great either:
320 / 700 - 45.7% (30th)

That surprises me that it is that high on the powerplay. However, I still think Kadri at 50% isn't great. That means the team is losing the draw every other time and loses the ability to setup properly.

And the PP lacks a good puck carrier, who should probably be the centre. Right now who's the best at bringing the puck up and shuttling it to a winger? I think Zary maybe, and he's not exactly elite at it. It ends up being Kadri and he often passes across the line to a guy in a bad spot.

Faceoffs and zone entries. Those are two critical elements for a powerplay. Very difficult to get anything going if you struggle at both.

There is another team that feels the same regarding ontrol of the puck, so to expect much above 50% is not really reasonable. Anything above 50% is gravy in my opinion.

I appreciate that we are generous and offered the Habs a third goal in the thread title.

Yup.
I feel like for faceoffs anything between like 48-52% is what you'd expect, it's pretty much a toss up.
Being around 45% means you're bad at it, and likely among the worst in the NHL.
Then the PK being at 36%...that is abhorrent and you're clearly doing something wrong.
