Trump is going to win the popular vote. You know what I think is a dumb, antiquated system? The first past the post system where Ontario gets to pick our government with a bunch of people who win between 30-40% of the vote in their ridings.

The response to this is "But Trump is worse!" Okay, but we're dealing with a lot of low-propensity voters here, who may not be all that tuned in to Trump's stance on Israel, but they know for damn sure what Biden's is.
|
Yeah, you would think at least putting some distance between the candidate and a President with an approval rating in the 30s would have been a good idea, but I guess the campaign staff disagreed. Given that a lot of them were inherited from Biden and were responsible for trying to maintain the facade that he was capable of being President for four more years, it's probably not surprising that they have the absolute worst political instincts.

You're assuming there will actually be a fair election in 2028. I admire your optimism.

They will 25th amendment trump before then, restrict voting rights further and who knows what else they will do with their new supreme Court justices after Alito and Thomas retire.
It is very realistic this is the last election we recognize as democratic in the US.

This would be a more salient point if he weren't also leading the popular vote — although, if that same standard applied in 2016, he'd have lost the first time around and never would've stuck around as their default nominee this long.

Probably, but remember that Harris was unlikable in the Primaries, and it seems it carried on in the election.
If the Dems could have convinced Biden not to run earlier they could have chosen a candidate that was um better.

Does this mean having Jason Aldean's support matter more than Swift and Eminem?

A big issue Harris had was also not being able to disassociate from Biden and answer how she would be different. Voters, especially the swing voters, wanted a change and she didn't offer it. I can give her a pass on failing to answer that question the first time it came up but I think she got asked the same question at least four more times on the national stage and she failed every single time. She should have been coached and prepared after being caught off guard the first time.

Well ina close election it has to come down to something. So the 7 closest states decide it. That seems OK to me?

This poster does not represent the east coast lol. For all the military talk and what WW2 was fought about, sounds like a russian bot who just wants people to suffer so he can laugh.
The East coast remembers world war 1, and the ports. Not all of them are the drunk uncle who forget.

Maybe but they kind of made their bed when the chose her as VP. Even in a runoff, she'd have a huge advantage

Yeah, the autopsy on this campaign is going to be fascinating for political nerds. She was polling into landslide territory when she was harping on Republicans being weird and promoting policy ideas like putting a cap on grocery costs.
Then she made this bizarre pivot post-convention where her policy ideas sounded like they were birthed in the worst neoliberal think tanks. They also went to the well too many times with the whole "threat to democracy" message.

I remember in a couple of interviews they gave her that chance, and she stated that she wouldn't change a thing.
Then later she wanted to turn the page on the the past, which included her as Vice President.
Throughout this campaign she offered very little clarity.
