What are we adding to Rasmus for that type of package though?
Easily one of the 1sts. I'd probably wager a Pospisil as well.

I've always been a fan of Cozens. Get him away from that terrible culture and watch him flourish.

Honestly it's a pretty short list of young RHS centers. So grabbing one of them even at a premium in the early stages of a rebuild is something that should be done.

Andersson + ????

for

Cozens + Byram

That's very intriguing depending on the ??? - which is the tough part.

Cozens didn't have a great season last year, and is off to a slow start this season, and his contract isn't necessarily great for what he's produced. So makes the + you need to add to Andersson a big question mark.

But that's the type of deal I think I'd love for the Flames to make. The organization actually lacks a blue chip LH shot d-man since Parekh and Bryz are both RH shots.

And Cozens adds a high upside RH center to the organization too.

Is Cozens actually available or are we just jumping Jiri’s suggestion?

I’m trying to find out, I think it’s a combination of him being the whipping boy currently and the fact they want help on the backend.

I love the idea of Cozens and Byram. I think the Pospisil add is tough since we are already lacking potential centers (I do think he can be an effective 2nd/3rd line center for this team being he is only 24).

I think Byram and Cozens may be too rich for the Sabres. Wonder if there was a chance to get Wahlberg added in lieu of Byram. 6’3” Center, 19 yrs old, pretty good start in Rochester.

But there’s also the fact that he’s not that good.

Cozens being paid like a top line player because of a 30 goal, 70 point season two years ago. He's struggled since so its not without risk. Need to do the homework and have a pretty good idea why his production has slipped so badly, and be sure the problem can be solved once he's acquired.

He isn’t overpaid. If Zary scored 30g and 70 pt people would say they would make a statue of Conny if he signed him to a $7MM long term deal.

I suspect there is something wrong in the room in Buffalo, lots of talent there and they just can’t get it done there. Real lack of leadership which I guess is a factor.

Okay so I’m told he’s not heard anything linking Byram to Calgary.
Has heard Cozens name as someone of interest for Calgary long term.
Fits the criteria that Craig has set perfectly.

Thanks for the updates Royle, really appreciate what you add here. Everyone loves the information.

Probably makes sense that Byram wouldn’t be part of any deal involving Cozens. Buffalo could get far more for him on his own especially closer to the deadline if the Sabres are out of the playoff picture.

Buffalo's biggest gap is leadership, grit and effort.
The Flames have a number of forwards that could be of interest: Coleman, Kadri, Pospisil. Anderson on D. No move clauses would limit our flexibility.

I wonder how advanced the discussions are, or if it is just CC poking around?

I could see a move for Cozens, but Cozens AND Byram? I can't see Buffalo doing that.

Cozens would be a great add- young, natural C with size and speed who is just 23 years old, and still putting everything together.

Flames are playing 5 right shot Dmen tonight so it could make sense they add a lefty.

Cozens+Byram for Andersson+Pospisil is the makings of a blockbuster. 2 for 2 I don’t love it or hate it so it might be a decent deal for both teams?
