Which would be pretty unique since 90% of this forum is discussion or debate, which both include questioning what someone has heard or challenging their opinion… like you did… and I did… and we all do…
I just think it’s interesting to see what you pick to jump in on. I would say every single game thread, post game thread, oot thread, and basically any thread about any players gets spicier than this one.

But you just basically dropped “a friend of a friend of a friend says Dube says he’s innocent” when his lawyer said as much however many months ago, which is a very large part of why this is going to trial at all. Literally everyone knows Dube is claiming he’s innocent.
How were you expecting people to react? How can people react better to meet whatever your needs were from sharing this “insider” information?

Great job little buddy! You did it! If Dube is found not guilty regardless of whether he did it, you’re going to be the real hero!
Is that closer to what you wanted?
|
Just imagine for a second having this conversation in person, and speaking like that. How incredibly stupid you would sound. It reads here the same way that would sound.
I imagine you’re quite young and likely use this platform to portray some sort of alter ego, but it’s a touch strange.
I came here to share information I heard. I stated it may not even be true (obviously), but definitely thought it was share-worthy.
I leave here now looking forward to the potential of Dube being PROVEN (not just getting off) innocent just so I can come back in here to rehash this conversation.

Why is the Trial Date so far out for a crime that happened so long ago?

Because our justice system is so back logged due to poor government funding due to people voting for tax cuts or something along that line.

The justice system is horribly backlogged. However, having a trial of this scope in September of 2025 is probably about the correct scheduling. You need time to interview and gather witnesses, discover documents, exchange documents, make requests for documents, etc...
Then you have to find an open time slot in court that aligns with the schedules of all the lawyers, the police officers involved, the judge, etc.... Typically, when I was scheduling trials a major holdup was the availability of the police officers. They have actual police work to do, but many appear in court fairly frequently too.

“A friend of a friend of Dube’s girlfriend said Dube says he’s innocent” doesn’t sound a whole lot different.

Oh I assure you it does.
Dube's girlfriend ---> good friend ---> my family member.
Really not a huge degree of separation.

I think maybe you’re missing the point.
Do you expect someone who has plead not-guilty to say anything other than they’re innocent?
Considering the length of the investigation, how many players were allegedly involved, and the players that ultimately were charged, how likely do you think it is that he wasn’t even in the room?
You think the police charged him despite nothing putting him there? There was video evidence that multiple people saw, remember.

Orange Julius type stuff, and it's completely possible this "source" was fed lies as well, but I thought it was worthy of posting. I also likely butchered the story a bit, but what I'm trying to portray is that their camp believes he is 100% innocent.

It seems strange that Dube would be specifically accused here. Is Dube's story that the victim didn't know exactly who was in the room with her? That is possible, as she was likely very intoxicated and being repeatedly assaulted. Maybe she'd seen him at the bar with her beforehand, and then didn't notice that he never came up to the room?
If that is the case, which seems unlikely, you'd hope his teammates would make that clear from the beginning and the case against him would get dropped pretty quickly.

See...that makes more sense to me.
Whats that saying? "Justice Delayed is Justice Denied"?
But yeah. Original screwup makes evidence harder to collect, plus theres the whole 'cover-up and payoff' which muddies the waters somewhat.
It just seems like it would be really difficult to collect evidence this long after the fact.

You are. What else would you expect to hear from someone charged with sexual assault that plead not guilty?

He should ask prospective teams how they will handle a rape accusation so that he can find an accommodating team that is the right fit.

They need a used condom as evidence just so his lawyer can say if the Jimmy hat doesn't fit, you must acquit!

I played hockey with a guy that was convicted of murder twice. His wife was absolutely adamant that he didn't do it the whole way through. I'm sure it's a tough spot to be in and you'll latch onto any path of believing you didn't dump a bunch of your life/make yourself vulnerable to a terrible person.
