Moving Andersson would likely solve that issue. They could get a haul for him and, in the words of Lahey, it would really boot the team down that sh$% hill and into sh$*-town.
Well not everyone, considering the complaining in the GT and PGT about the close loss to what’s supposed to be a good team (who they already beat once).

Did they mention on the broadcast why Nurse never got a penalty for not leaving the ice when his helmet came off?

And yet that same self awareness is lacking when it comes to “divey Connor and the slewfoots”.

In fairness, the flames lack the scoring depth that millions of dollars would bring. Goals change games…

Did they mention on the broadcast why Nurse never got a penalty for holding guys behind the net multiple times, or why the Oilers didn't get a penalty for tripping, boarding, slashing, diving, hooking, interference, spearing, elbowing, and all the other multitude of #### they get away with?

Well it started with me saying he was awful last night

I don’t see it. But seems like I’m missing something given the consensus, I’ll watch him closer

On another note, Pachal has really cemented himself in the lineup IMO. At 25 years old, he seems like he could be a long term fit on the bottom pairing.

Anyone else have thoughts on him??

I mean Tanev, Hanifin, Giordano, Weegar, Ras, ect. have had poor games especially against the Oilers. You said yourself you have barely watched the Flames this season. Guy is also 24.

"is this the best player we could have gotten for Markstom" was a bad take and implies a bad player not a bad game. Besides on the list of guys who blew the game last night he isn't even in the top 3 IMO.

We have Brzustewicz and Grushnikov and both has a potential to come 2nd or 3rd pairing for us. I like Brzustewicz to become 3rd pairing who can be PP specialist. And I think Grushnikov may become better or at least same as Pachal for us.
So I think there will be competition in long run but this year Pachal looks like top 6 D for us.

Alright alright I take that part back. I haven't done the proper due diligence to justify the vehemence of the opinion that I shared. My (admittedly small sample) eye test told me something

Then looking at his stats just now, his shot counts are amongst the worst on the team. And the team's relative expected goals are the worst on the team when he's on the ice (by a long shot)

I'll watch him more. I honestly had no idea he'd achieved such high praise around here

Fair enough, I just thought that penalty is pretty automatic when when you fail to pick up the helmet and then miraculously end up back in front defending the net.

Sorry man, Draisaitl was his job. He put the puck around the board then skated as if they were successfully going to break out. He noticed Draisaitl alone in front too late

He was involved in the turnover that led to rush against on the second goal and his guy hit Skinner with the pass.

Also many plays / possessions died once it hit his stick

He made some decent defensive plays over the course of the game but on the whole had a rough game

It’s the same rule as far as the Oilers are concerned when vladar’s mask is knocked off while oilers are attacking the net and for some reason they don’t blow the whistle.

Officials have a tough job but at some point it’s not a statistical anomaly.

Andersson and Bahl also get the hardest matchups

So close to winning the season series. Crazy we have to wait until the end of march for the rubber match.

Was a frustrating game. Horrible start from the shutdown line and top D pairing and a bad offensive zone penalty at the worst time, but otherwise a good effort.

I don't know. Bahls passed the eye test for me. Especially for a guy who missed most of training Camp and had to use regular season games to get up to speed.

Plus he been given a pretty significant increase in responsibilities than what he's used to.

Is he perfect? No but my expectations have been steady improvement game over game and IMO he's done that.

There's a reason the SN ppl keep heaping praise on him, has to be right?

Anyways, perspective is extremely individual and I've honestly had no qualms with Bahls game or his development as a Flame so far.

Bahl’s been fine but he kind of has the Zadorov problem where he can fill in on the second pair but you probably want someone better if you’re trying to do some damage. And then if he’s on the third pair he’ll probably be too expensive or maybe you want to keep that spot for someone who’s developing. But he certainly looks like an NHLer.

I don’t know. I think Bahl has looked very good on the whole

Struggled mightily last night on all 3 goals, but his body of work on the season has been good and a very pleasant surprise

Given his age, once he matures and continues to develop, I see him as a solid top 4
