So where will Cavalry play CONCACAF next year? The only wrong answer.....is at Spruce Meadows....
Unless the Fieldturf installation somehow (miraculously) starts in the next 30 days (apparently it takes around 2 months), anywhere in Calgary is the wrong answer.
Surprised they're not exploring temporary options as they have so much room on the west side of the field. Just erect one of those 1000 seat bleachers and grab an extra $40k revenue and make it a huge success story that a team in a newish league has to add seating due to demand.
Honestly, winning next week would be amazing, at home and on CBC... but the best prize is the Champions Cup spot, IMO. I am so damn happy. Cannot wait to see who our R1 opponent is.
Thank you Forge! But also #### you and die next week

The problem is throwing seats in there would block the view of the $200 seats they've already sold. Hopefully sell outs for big games become common enough the figure out a plan they can pull off quickly to do exactly as you say in the future.
Looks like the officers club has officially sold out as well. I wonder if they will try cram more seating into the stadium.
Either way very impressive.
I doubt that there is much more they can do at this point to increase capacity, but it does beg a question for future years. A shorter, temporary stand along the west edge of the pitch would make sense. Sure, it would block the Officers' Club, but give each of those people a seat IN the temporary stand as part of their ticket. The view from the Officers' Club is crap anyway - the distance, the TV platforms, etc. They can get their fancy stuff before and after the match, and at half.
I wonder if Spruce Meadows has considered doing something with that void between the Officers' Club building and the pitch. The equestrian events would likely still need that area though.
Until we're averaging closer to capacity for the regular season, there isn't much to worry about. But until then, I am looking forward to basking in an absolutely packed stadium on Saturday. It is going to be electric.

I talked with Callum and they're doing pitchside gazebos along the Officer's Club side. The idea is to feel like you're almost right on the field, so that will be new for this final game.

Kinda like Red & White Club at the Stamps games. You go to your seats to watch, then mosey back to the club for food/drinks/other rich people stuff.

Please don't. We have an agreement with the club around smoke bombs and you'll #### it up for us.
Asking a Croatian person not to bring smoke or flares to an important football match is like asking an American not to light off fireworks on the 4th. Or a Canadian not to apologize incessantly.
It's in our veins man.
But I will respect your request and refrain.
