I mean you cant body check a guy walking down the street either...you obviously sign up for a certain level of violence when you play hockey. We can debate the rules but Lomberg did nothing wrong...in fact he got less penalties. He lets up and you can bet your ass a couple are coming back his way.
Anyway best 60 mins of the year for the Flames

It’s against the rules of the sport, as in an “illegal” play. Like “illegal contact to the head”, another penalty.
Fighting will be gone. It’s inevitable, and it will be looked back at as ridiculous that it stayed in the sport with the current level of punishment for as long as it has.

You mean the majority of old school Don Cherry fans? I used to love fighting, but in todays game I question it's place in the game. Especially in light of trying to grow the game I'd say the majority of fans don't want fighting in the game. I can't stand the fights that ensue after a good clean hit. I want physicality in the game, but not the stupid fights that result from "the code" where you have to fight after a good clean hit.

You either deal with it or watch something else. If I sign up for a sport that is known to have fighting and body checking.. I make that choice to get my millions... If I sign up for boxing to get punched in the face, I made that choice. Imagine saying I love boxing but I wish they they would remove punches to the face.. its part of the sport. Don't like it play another sport.

Are there not things you love but not everything about those things?
When you love a TV show does that mean you love all the episodes and all the actors in it?
I'm not attacking posters. I'm debating. Frankly you are the one being hostile about it.

I made it in the previous post?
That the punishment for fighting has not kept up with scientific discovery in regards to brain trauma.

When's the last time in the last decade we had a scripted enforcer fight ? Those were dumb.

What’s the difference to the brain trauma if the fight was staged or not?
There’s a reason why the NFL has been paying out millions and millions of dollars to ex-players to the tune of $1.2 billion and growing.

Anyway. If you don’t like it just close your eyes. It’s probably going to happen again. Like on Sunday. Probably more than once.

What a great way to deal with an issue. Literally advising people to stick their heads in the sands.
that always works!

Because fighting is down in the NHL. I believe it needs to be kept in to keep players accountable. Sue me.

He had 69 fights in his career you tell me.
Jerome had 72 but could score so ya by TODAY standards I would consider them both as ones .
To put that in perspective Derek Boogard only ever had 60 nhl fights

Do you know every detail about his life?
Should we ban blades on skates because that guy playing in Europe got his neck cut last year and died?
