Like I said before, losing isn't a problem. Caring is. If they don't care, sit them. It's not fair to the young guys to watch the other ones just mope around.

Not much IMO because it already stinks
https://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attenda...h.php?tmi=5090
The all time low was 1990 at 15320, and only twice have they fallen below 16000
This year attendance is 17169
There are a lot more people in Calgary then 1990, so that should offset attendance drops somewhat from the all time lows. Also certain teams will always be big draws (The dome will just become a visiting teams arena even more on those nights)
So maybe you see another 1000 fans per game drop, but the reality is the casual fan attendance has been trending down for 3 straight years/since COVID
I am guessing we average 16750 for the year

You just don't throw young players into the fire because fans are tired of seeing their team lose with veteran players. Most of the Flames prospects are better served playing in the AHL right now. No prospect's career has ever been ruined by playing hundreds of AHL games but plenty have been ruined by being thrown into the fire on bad NHL teams when they are not ready.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Also have you seen the Wranglers record? Leave the kids there. Teach them winning habits.

So you're happy with Zary and Pospisil playing with Huberdeau and Kuzmenko while they mope around? You're happy with Backlund coming out Ho hum Daisy's on his 1000th game? I don't like it and I would guess the majority also don't like it.

You seem convinced that your perception of the mood/mindset some players have is reality, just from watching them play. So, you’re free to not like the reality you’ve made up in your head, but I don’t know why you’d think players or even other viewers would share your view.

The team is starting to turn into the group we thought they were and that is fine. I turned this one off early like I did on Monday with the Vegas game. I hope there is a better effort against Marky and the Devils on Friday.

Except when the Flames were apparently ruining Wolf's by not calling him up and giving him the starting role the past two seasons.

Holy over dramatic response from some of you. This is a rebuild. Some will be good games, some will be mediocre, and some will be downright dreadful. Probably there will be a lot more dreadful games for quite some time. We are 10 games in and some are wanting to burn it to the ground. Deep breath. It won't change overnight.

I'm not sure Huberdeau is moping around, this is just who he has always been even in Florida. He can disappear for several games or even weeks. Before he used to collect cookie points while doing it though.
But it's true, it's not good to hand him minutes just because of his contract either. I predict a buyout by year five of his deal.

When teams are out-matched talent wise, they often have the appearance of not caring. It's not often the case. It's simply the fact that the other team is controlling the play and exerting their will.
It's not about caring. It's about the fact they aren't a good team.

This is what we were all expecting. Yea, it ain't fun to lose, that's for sure. But this will be good for the franchise in the long run.

You're not wrong at all, but there is a give-a-damn-meter for every player on the ice in any level of hockey that should be at a certain level. Mantha, for instance goes from green to red over the course of 10 games (as do a lot of players) and a guy like Huberdeau seems to fluctuate within the game itself. A guy like Kirkland comes in with it off the charts initially and now it is settling back to the norm.
It's all moot anyway as this team is destined for a top 5 pick this year. How they get there is pointless IMO. As a collective group they are clearly not just rolling over, but at some point if these huge losses continue, they definitely will.

I don't get why people think Huberdeau doesn't care or is moping around.
He works hard, especially defensively. I don't think he's just floating around out there.
His issues are that he's lost his skills - which happens to older players - he clearly just can't make those fine or quick plays he once could.
But he's not just moping around. He works very hard, especially defensively.

That's my read too.
Mantha is a different story. No one has been able to figure that guy out.

I agree, but that's what's sad. There is no coming back from decreases skills.
Even with his 4 points in his first game, he is on a 57 point pace. And with 3 points in his last 9 games, his trend is dreadful.

I actually think they need to surround him with pace and finishers.
I like Sharangovich and Pospisil with him TBH.
