For sure,I mean the dodgers spent a crap ton of money so that sucks but their players aren’t really unlikeable are they?

The only Dodger I can think of off the top of my head is Kike Hernandez. Even when he played for Boston he always came off as an arrogant ###### to me.

I was hoping Ohtani would have nothing but early playoff exits for the rest of his career but I wouldn't call him a ######bag.

Any bump Soto got for an LCS performance, got returned with a poor WS.

My guess is the Yankees don't make him a priority and he moves on.

Yanks looked terrible in the field all series. My guess is they try and find some vets that have been there so the very odd meltdowns that have happened this series are curbed.

That must be all in the same game because the Cubs blew an 8 run lead to Philadelphia in game 4 of the 1929 World Series.

Disastrous World Series for the Yankees. They were completely outclassed. Dodgers were a good team that peaked at the right time. I think on balance the Dodgers were the more likeable team but that isn’t saying much.

Was fun to see Kevin Pillar on the Sportsnet panel. Well spoken guy. When discussing where the Yankees go from here I like how he said the Yankees don’t rebuild, they are just built. Haha good line.

I mean they have basically an MLB roster NOT playing on their payroll. Glad this world series was a dud after all the cheering for it like it was some sort of destiny or incredible storyline. I love Jamie Campbell so much, but I had to roll my eyes at his comment after the game that even though it was a 5 game series, it felt like a 7 game series. Media and fans wanted this to be bigger than it was.

Frankly, the price Soto is expecting, any team would be wise to walk away from. $400M, I can see that, sure ($40M/season), but any player asking for more than that, including Ohtani, is really stretching the limits on expected performance over the duration of that contract. If he's your final piece, sure. I just don't see how the Jays with so many holes, why they'd go for him? I know for sure they will and they'll try and win him at a very high cost, probably trade Bichette to get more starting lineup depth, but to me it's a bad approach at team building.

Imagine the Dodgers running it back but with a healthier pitching staff that might include Ohtani who is a legit ace.

They had 17 different pitchers start a game for them this past season and Stone and Glasnow are the only two that had over 100 innings pitched.

For reference the Jays had 10 different guys start a game and 5 guys with 100+ innings pitched. The Yankees had 8 different guys start a game and they had 4 pitchers with 150+ innings pitched (Dodgers had zero pitchers with 150+ IP)

I don't watch as much baseball as I used to but that was a fantastic world series. Watching the Yankees self destruct all series was almost as enjoyable as seeing the Oilers lose to the Panthers in the SCF.

Realize now that the Yankees will spend more and more to keep up with the Dodgers.

No they won't lol. Hal is not the old man, he's kind of cheap, relatively speaking. With the money in baseball nowadays George would have the Yankees at a $400 million payroll without a doubt if he were alive. Mets will probably get Soto and spend a ton after that. Mets-Dodgers figures to be the big rivalry going forward.

But that rivalry will be woefully one-sided as the Mets always Met.

I think a big chunk of the higher total Soto gets will be the extra years because he's so young compared to most FAs. Judge's deal goes to his age 39 season. For Soto that would be a 14 year deal, so even at $40MM that's $560 MM. Add a few deferrals in there and you can probably keep it as $40MM/year and have a headline number of $600MM.

They have Kershaw, Glasgow, Ohtani, and Yamamoto signed for next year. Buehler and Flaherty are both UFA. They'll need to sign at least one SP and probably two for next year- can't imagine they'll want ohtani on regular rest and DHing rights away after TJ. Also gives them some margin for injuries.

Kershaw seems pretty well done, Glasgow is great but has injury history, and Ohtani may not pitch that many more seasons given his value as a batter and double tommy-johns.

Dodgers need some SP reinforcements for next year.

Yeah. I truly think you’re right on that. Add in some Rogers Canadian tax and I could see it being more. It’s crazy to complain about not going for a high end player but I am given the teams circumstances. They’ll shoot for the moon here but they’d be better off getting two $25M guys for a shorter duration. Just my thought.
