If I told you guys the Flames would be a .611 Hockey Club on October 30th you guys would call me a big fat liar. Now here we are and we are nitpicking 4th liner and 7th/8th dman moves.

Agree it's not a huge deal - but I still think the organization depth would say that Schwindt would be more important to have than Barrie or Hanley.
We have literally no RH Center's in our entire org.
Let's say we didn't have Hanley or Barrie (or even both)... I'd have absolutely no concern with Solovoyov, Kuznestov, Grushnikov, Poirier, or even Brzustewicz getting some NHL spot time in the case of an injury. In fact I wish we had more space to give those guys a look this season in case of an injury or trade, instead of the two 33 year olds with no real future on this team.
I am no fan of Schwindt but if Vegas thought he was good enough to claim on waivers and keep as an everyday NHL then I'm probably missing something.
The correct move was not signing Barrie - and honestly nothing in training camp or the first 9 games of the season makes me think they were right to sign him.

I really like the lines tonight. I was hoping for a healthy scratch for Mantha after the previous game. If the team plays like it did against VGK it should open the door for some prospects.
I'd like to see one of Pelletier(10P in 9GP), or Duehr(5G, 9P in 9GP) get called up and rewarded for the work they've put in the AHL. I think either would give a boost to the 4th line right now. Kerins(8G, 10P in 9 GP) also deserves the callup, but I'm not sure which line he'd center.
I think Klapka should get a couple of games in the AHL, love his potential, but there are a lot of holes in his game.
I really like Pachal getting the opportunity to play with Weegar. Also, Kuznetsov is a guy I would want to see with the big club sooner rather than later.
PS: Back to Ukraine for a couple of months, so I finally got caught up on watching the games.

I actually think for Kerins he probably needs a bit more time in the AHL proving it wasn't just a hot start to the season.
He's shown good progression over his 3 pro seasons, but I think he probably needs at least 30 games showing he's a true top AHL line player before you call him up.
To me Pelletier and Coronato are the guys that have consistently produced at the AHL level, and aren't really liabilities defensively either, that should be in the NHL.
Those guys need to continue their development at the NHL level because I'm not sure they have a lot more to learn / prove at the AHL level, and I do think that at some point keeping a guy in the AHL too long actually hurts their development.
Honzek should go down and one of Klapka/Rooney/Kirkland as well, to make room to bring those two up. Main problem being there is not top 9 room for both of them but I wouldn't hesitate to give either guy a 4th line look.

They are going through major renovations to get it ready for hockey. Not much he could do this quick.
Still impressed what they pulled off.

I'd agree on Coronato, I think it looks like he can adapt to any role and be fine.
Pelletier though may need more time. He himself says he hasn't played a NHL game he'd call good in over a year. He needs to find his confidence before getting put into a situation to lose it again.

Not sure if that is a promotion for Zary or he is being punished. He won't touch the puck if Kadri has it.
Not sure what the obsession is with trying Sharangovich at C, he is a winger.

How was Zary able to be so productive last year on this line then?

Kadri wasn't playing like 22/23 Kadri. He is back to that style.

Or he plays whichever style he needs to based on his trust in his linemates.
Maybe he trusts Zary more than whoever else was with him.

Coaching staff seems to love Pachal. Not sure why but they do. He reminds me of former Flames captain Todd Simpson, not sure if that is good or bad.

I think they need to put him in a position to succeed and find his confidence at the NHL level.
And I think a direct Honzek for Pelletier swap on that Backlund-Coleman line would do that.
Doesn't have to be right now, but in the next 5 or so games I think I'd look at it. Especially if Honzek doesn't look 100% after his injury.

He has been very good for the Flames outside of one bad pass last game

I expect they didn’t want him to feel he lost his spot on the roster to injury.

I like Pachal as well. He deserves to be in the lineup, I just found the timing very odd to not only remove Miromanov but move up Pachal.
Wouldn't mind a look at a Bean-Miromanov pairing honestly.
