He predicting something that will happen 5 months from now? We don't even know who will be in the race.

Even if it is quiet its not like we have big pieces to move either. I wasn't expecting a bidding war on players like Mantha and Kuzmenko. We got rid our bigger names already, the only big one left is Andersson.

Let's simmer on the Coronato front. Take a look at that Haynes tweet and go for a walk or something.

I know GMs are typically super disciplined when they have cap space burning in their pocket lol.

Osei-Tutu?

What a rad name. Too bad he's not a player.

The trade deadline is always a goofy day. It rarely, if ever, works out for the buying teams. For fans like us? Awesome. Looking at it from the team’s perspective? It’s just not a smart way to handle assets. It’s almost the ultimate sign of organizational impatience and GM’s acting to further/sustain their own careers, rather than team success.

Look at Vancouver last year, and how much better off they’d be right now if they had all of their assets.

Maybe agents need to start shutting the hell up on social media instead of trying to use it as a poking tool to help their clients whenever they're not 100% satisfied with their playing situation? They should see that these tweets generally end up with emotional fans turning on the player rather than the team feeling pressure to do what the player wants.

Based on what Pinder was saying on Barn Burner, it might not have been Matt's agent agent who was tweeting, but another agent in the firm

Sounds like it is all smoothed-over, but I for one sure hope (and expect) that Coronato is really angry with being demoted. He better be. Hope he realizes that his anger needs to be directed at himself, and that he needs to channel that anger appropriately.

Hopefully he adds a bit of piss and vinegar to his game and plays with the same mentality that Zary and Pospisil showed when they finally got their start. They both refused to give the Flames a reason to send them back down again. Neither one of them have let their foot off the gas. Hopefully Coronato - as well as Honzek, Pelletier, Kerins, Stromgren, etc., etc., etc., - embrace that mentality.

Work hard, the organization will give them a shot. It will be 100% on them after that. I can't say that Coronato has been unfairly demoted. I hope when he returns (and I bet sooner rather than later) he doesn't allow the Flames the opportunity to demote him ever again.

I really really doubt the team is upset with his lack of piss and vinegar, or work ethic. From everything being said he put in a lot of work in the summer and had a great camp.

He was drafted for his non-stop motor. This is a numbers game, and the team simply doesn't have a spot for him in in a spot he deserves. He is not a 4th liner.

You are correct that it's almost always a poor choice, but when teams feels they have a chance of winning the SC, they feel it's better to marginally increase their odds.

And his shot. Only 5 shots in 5 games so far this season. Maybe they want him to work on getting more shots off down in the AHL.

That's why you sell at the deadline and pick up in the off season.

Hard to convince a contending team to sell at the deadline.

Anyone else hear on 32 thoughts the reference back to Huberdeau and his agent chirping on twitter?

I knew the flames didn't like it, but Friedman says the team had a meeting and players were pissed. I don't think i heard that before. Nice to know they stood up and let him know.

Kyper & Bourne talking about Robertson getting scratched a lot this season and him being too small for Treliving. I don't think he's long for Toronto.

Also spent some time talking about the struggling Leafs PP. They pointed out how in an interview, Berube talked about how "I" was trying to do this and that in practice on the PP, instead of referring to Savard, which he did before. The PP has always seemed to be a strong point for the Leafs, could be coincidence but hard to not make that connection to Savard given how bad the Flames PP was under his guidance.

Robertson was scratched the last game, otherwise he played the first 9 games of the season.
