The worst thing that happened for Richardson was missing most of last season as he was one of the most raw 1st round QB's in recent history. Too early to call him a bust because he was never really projected to be a day one starter but who knows if he will ever be able to put it together. The NFL almost needs to make up rules to prevent teams from rushing these QB's into starting roles and destroying their confidence. Seeing guys like Smith and Darnold play better should be a reminder that these players are human and not all of them can just make the jump effectively. It's no surprise that the Jets are a common denominator here as they keep drafting young QB's and putting them into situations that even veteran HOF players like Rodgers can't win in.

Thing with Richardson is I don't blame him at all, it's an organization taking a QB with a top 5 pick with no plan on how to properly develop him.
Richardson was always a project, Richardson was always going to need time and development.
The guy started 13 games and 1 season in College - it wasn't like he was some super over developed college QB that had started for 3 seasons already.
Instead they started him from Day 1 in the NFL - then he missed time due to two serious injuries (concussion and AC joint sprain) and only played 4 games that season, but also the injuries hurt his development time because it's not like he would have been able to fully participate in practice, etc.
Now he's played 6 games this season and it's gone about as well as you'd expect on a team that's just not that good.

I'd argue that the issue is that they have a veteran backup like Flacco and started with him as the backup. As much as everyone loves the sensationalistic take of Darnold or Flacco for MVP the Colts with Flacco are not a Superbowl team. But they could be a play off team and the guys on the field know he's better today and they can win games with him. If it's Carson Wentz...not so much. It's not impossible that after Flacco has his shot that they go back to AR5. But the in and out does mess with a players confidence. If you start with Flacco and he Flames out by week 7, bring in the young guy.
That is where I do think New England with Maye have been a bit better. They stuck with Brissett and let him take hits as long as they could. Even at that still injured the new guy within 3 games.
I agree that the injuries have been a factor as its resulted in lost time and reps.

Johnson could be a nice pickup for the Ravens. That's a pretty loaded offence already and than you add him as essentially the third or fourth pass catcher. Just a matter of can his ego take the blow of less important guy kn a way better team.

Good pickup for the Ravens.
They will have to outscore teams this year to win.

that's a sick offense. MVP at QB, cheat code at RB, two fantastic TEs, solid WR depth. Feels weird though to see a Ravens team with such an imbalance between offense and defense.

I would still be surprised if Richardson turned out to be a good QB, and it's also worth noting Josh was a two year starter in college, but Richardson vs. Josh stats for the first ten games are remarkably similar.

He's so young too that it's still hard to tell IMO.
He's the same age as the guys people want to take in the 1st round of the 2025 Draft:
Richardson - May 22, 2002
Cameron Ward - May 25, 2002
Shedeur Sanders - Feb. 7, 2002
Garrett Nussmeier - Feb. 7, 2002
Quinn Ewees - March 15, 2003
Carson Beck - Nov. 19, 2001
If the Colts decide to move on then a team with a solid veteran QB and stable coaching staff with the ability to develop players would probably be smart to pick him up and try and salvage him. He has a lot of raw talent but he always needed patience and development time that Indy just didn't give him (and TBH he probably should have spent another year in college)

Rams would seem the ideal landing spot. But even if you're someone like KC, trading for him on the cheap, developing him, and flipping him for far more than what you paid would be really smart.

So Carolina traded a 6th rounder (Will be 1st or 2nd pick of the round) for the Ravens 5th round pick (Most likely a 25+ pick in that round)
So they get to move up approx 10 picks at the end of the 5th round....
If the Ravens won the Superbowl the picks could literally be back to back
What is Carolina doing besides being Carolina. Is that really the best they could get?

they lost the initial trade too, I'd say. CB Donte Jackson and a 6th (178th) for Johnson and a 7th (240th) ... Jackson has 3 interceptions for the Steelers so far and has been a solid CB2. Funnily enough, he had his worst game by far yesterday against Slayton, but he's been solid otherwise.
In the end, they traded Jackson and a pair of 6ths for a late 5th and a 7th. Won't ruin your franchise, but nothing to write home about either.

Second time in two weeks where a player drops the ball at or before crossing the goal line. You'd think that on these types of scoring plays they would hold onto the ball for an extra step or two.
