If he'd just tried to power through that instead of his built in instinct to draw a penalty, he'd have been fine.

I don't know why that leg went all awkward. He is as good as anyone at going down for a penalty without hurting himself.
Yes, but McDavid definitely dives at every opportunity. It's part of his game and it may have burned him here.

His game is so predicated on speed like P Bure’s was. I’ve always assumed that eventually he’s going to suffer a serious lower body injury that slows him down to mortal speed. Speed Kills….eventually.

Almost every single time he falls/dives, the skate blades are in the air in one way or another. Eventually someone is really going to get hurt.

Really guys....
If McDavid misses any significant time, it could mean a lot of Oilers losses, which is fun to anticipate

There was a lot of Oilers losses ahead, even without that.

This exactly.
And anything that slows that speed makes him much more mortal.
So of course he will be rushed back ahead of any proper timetable - it is the Oiler way - but i expect he may be less effective. Just how much less we will see.
I never want to see anyone hurt but will truly rejoice in any extra losses this may mean. here's hoping they fall well behind the 96 point pace.

His left leg starts to collapse before the stick hits his right foot - he's anticipating the contact and is starting the dive. You're right, his dives are instinctual now.

Wasn't Provorov, it was Werenski from behind him. You're right that Provorov didn't touch him until he was already going down.
Whether it is a trip or not doesn't make a difference, it is a pretty harmless play that happens several times every game.

It was a trip, but barely.

Unfortunately, he slammed into the boards awkwardly.

Wishing him speedy recovery.

I hate the Oilers, but I prefer it when they lose with a fully healthy lineup.

Hope he's back in there soon (for more losing).
