You’re absolutely right, but if you can add a player of the calibre of a MBN, or a Kiiskinen to your stable of prospects, I would go for it. Perhaps there’s a move to be made involving a current member of your prospect pool instead.

You’re correct though, we need plenty of bullets in the gun when it comes to the crucial center position.

It's hard to say because he was not given much of an opportunity with skill players.

Like I said I am not outraged by them sending him down, he needs to play and not 4th line minutes. I felt the same with Honzek. I see why they kept them up, but if they won't play it makes no sense.

I wonder if this being a contract year for Coronato has anything to do with his agent griping? hmmm.....

He would need to have a heck of a year to sign one of those big money deals.

He has the potential to be a lethal goal scorer, but at this point its just potential.

Not controversial at all. I thought they should have packaged him with Marky to shake 10 loose from the Devils. Now that was controversial apparently. Although I wonder how excited people would be about a Parekh Silayev pairing.

Anyhow, this is simply how the Flames will need to build under a pick volume model. Turn over assets, draft well and use good but not elite prospects as trade bait.

Not controversial just probably not realistic. I don't think NJD would have had any interest in that.

I doubt 10 was going to be traded in any event.

He didn't really force himself onto the top lines. Zary and Pospisil forced their way onto the team and kept their spots. The team isn't going to feed him minutes while Kuzmenko and Mantha are on the team. Hopefully he will take it and run with it when they are gone.

The Flames still have a few too many vets on the forward core for a rebuilding team

You assume that if the Flames traded Markstrom last year they still end up at 9, or they still take Parekh. Also, the Devils still end up picking 10, which seems highly unlikely.

In this make believe scenario you’re discussing, it could be that the Flames ended up with Iginla and Adam Jireck for all we know.

No need for hypotheticals lol. Markstrom + Coronato for the 10th is what they wanted in the off-season before the draft

Agreed. Signing Mantha was a sign the Flames want to be as competitive as possible. Coronato should be learning in the big leagues. They trade UFA's to be when the won't sign an extension at an amount the Flames can live with. They will utilize young players when there is a vacant spot, but they don't seem to be willing to go out of their way to create one. Just look at some of their dman signing.

Yes they are rebuilding, but essentially because it was forced upon them. This is a team built to finish out of the playoffs but perhaps out of the bottom 10 as well. Their forward group is better than the bottom feeders for sure. Wolf continues to be the wild card.

I was seeing some chatter on twitter over the weekend about the possibility of acquiring Shane Wright, no actual rumours but just pure speculation & discussion. Although I do wonder if Seattle is open to the idea of moving him, and how much it would take.

I would imagine they aren't open to moving him. Given their free agency moves and their pipeline I'm not sure what he'd be moved for.

Is there a source on this? Can’t say I recall that being out there.

I doubt they would move him, but if they did, it would take an elite prospect to convince them to do so.

Probably someone like Coronato or Honzek. Not sure if Seattle would do it straight up for either one but something like that I believe.

Now that I think about it more Seattle would want both.

Friedman said on 32 thoughts that the Matt's agent undid the retweets.

Ooops

This is a bit different.

He just needs to wait for some trades to happen.

Didn't agree with sending Coronato down so I don't mind the agents retweeting posts about it (plural, because there were 2 agents from the same agency retweeting that post). Seems the Flames are constantly in drama with player agents the last few years and at some point it's not that these guys are all just scrappy divas. Maybe it's the org speaking out both sides of its mouth.
