Jets had an xG 1.5 higher than the Flames. Wolf was fantastic.

Yeah, the difference is those ones are called with 2+ periods left, Flames penalties are called in the last 7 minutes, which leaves no time to try to answer if they get scored on.

Circumstance counts for a lot.

If I had a dollar for every time a team we played took two straight penalties and committed further obvious infractions on said penalties but for the refs to cap it there and look the other way on the extras. That's pretty well par for the course, except for the Flames late last night for whatever reason.
Would you rather have the refs engaging in game management, or, consistency?

It’s not about becoming a pass first player, it’s about having the common sense to dish it to a wide open Andrei Kuzmenko instead of stick handling through one defender while being chased by another.

This isn't a Gary Bettman problem. The problem is that the officials' union is accountable to no one, and if anybody ever tries to make them accountable they simply down tools and walk. It's happened before.

Moreover, officiating in the NHL was every bit as bad before Bettman came along. Do you remember the infamous Habs' goal in the last game of the '89 finals? Claude Lemieux skated across Vernon's crease and took his legs right out from under him, and the puck went in. Vernon was literally jumping up and down on his skates in anger as he hollered at the referee. The goal stood and no penalty was called on an obvious and blatant infraction in the deciding game of the championship series.

The difference is that then, most regular-season games weren't televised, there were no Jumbotrons in most arenas, and there was no such thing as streaming video, so the fans didn't get to see replay after replay of the officials' bad work. Incompetence and bias could be swept under the rug one game at a time.

The Flames are 20th with an average attendance of 17,169. With a median attendance of about 17,850, the Flames are within reach of that.

The Jets are 31st, with an average of 13,666. That's a long way off. We'll see if their hot start changes that.

The Jets will always be near the bottom of the attendance figures because their arena capacity is only 15k people

He won't pass.

The first preseason game, he did end up scoring, but he had Miramanov come down the slot of a one time and he just held on to the puck to find a shot for himself.

Kadri is a puck hog, this won't change.

Except that the Jets attendance woes are due to different circumstances than the Flames. The Flames are icing a mediocre product, whereas the Jets attendance is due to high ticket prices. The Jets lowered their ticket prices this season, but the cheapest season tickets still work out to $62/game to sit in the nosebleeds. PL season tickets at the Dome are considerably less expensive than that by comparison.

Jets attendance is up 4% since the February 2024, but it doesn't matter how good the team is. Barring a miracle like a really deep playoff run or cup win, they won't fill the arena to 100% at their current ticket prices. Jets fans have proven this over the past two seasons.

Comparing their seat prices to our third-deck, nosebleeds, isn't fair or accurate.

Compare their ticket prices to the best 15,000 seats in the Dome (which are all sold).

In fact, most of the empty seats at the Dome are actually the nosebleeds.

And the new arena will be completely sold out, even with considerably higher ticket prices. So I really don't see your point - the fact is that the Jets' attendance is the lowest in the league.

Yes. Calgary is objectively better than Winnipeg at all times of the year.
