Speaking of 90s horror thrillers, is there anything better than Candyman and The Prophecy? I don't think so.
Candyman is top 10 horror movies of the 90s it's perfect. Other great 90s horror movies I'd add, Silence if the Lambs, Scream, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Misery, Blair Witch, House on Haunted Hill, In the Mouth of Madness, Sixth Sense and Event Horizon and a bunch more. 90s was such a stacked decade for horror

I don't know if I would consider movies like the Sixth Sense or Silence of the Lambs horror.
Another classic vampire movie that needs mentioning: Shadow of the Vampire. It's a unique take on the filming of the original Nosferatu, with Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich. I really shouldn't say any more.

I definitely consider Sixth Sense a horror movie. It ranks right up there with some of the great horror movies in my opinion. Tons of slow build, creepy, scary scenes.

Horror adjacent maybe. Movies like sixth sense and silence of the lambs are thrillers. They have some horror elements but overall better fit a mixed genre movie.

One of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen is Jacob’s Ladder, but it’s not a horror film either. I need to revisit it but it freaked me out so much I haven’t watched since it was in theatres.
The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. Silent German expressionist horror film from 1920. So strange and so great. Think I'll pay homage/ rip it off for an animation.

I though the Sixth Sense was an excellent movie.

Suspense, slow burn, yip

Slightly tangential to movies but for those that have kids and have enjoyed watching Sing and Sing 2....
Netflix has added an 11-minute short with most of the Sing main cast (Rosita - Reese Witherspoon is missing). The feature song is Thriller by Michale Jackson. They've done a really good job with it. They have it filtered with film grain which adds a nice touch tot he spookiness of it.

Many film historians think that this film (which was part of the German expressionist movement at the time) was the original horror film. It started the genre.

Yeah, this is where I land.
You could argue that trillers are a horror sub genre, like how a slasher is different from a haunting movie, but really, you could have a thriller with elements of both.

It’s a thriller. Would you consider Cape Fear a horror movie?
