Fixed your post

He is very clear he is not American

Tex Mex food does not equal Mexican food

Coconut Joe's walked, so 1600 World Bier Haus could run.

That’s fair. The food at Bitter Sisters is far superior and the beer is cold.

None of the BBQ is great here unfortunately.

I've had great bbq here from people's private smokers, but otherwise I've had pretty much the same experience as you. You'd think if there was a place in Canada that would have some top-shelf bbq, it would be here, but it doesn't seem like it. Maybe it's just too hard to make work as a business with the higher prices of food/labour compared to down south, so people take shortcuts.

It doesn't exist anymore unfortunately but I thought that roadside BBQ place in Bragg Creek was pretty decent.

Perhaps some cognitive dissonance. I feel like I completely read that wrong.

Holy Smoke was good, everything else is meh.

Memphis Blues in Kelowna is way better than anything here.

Tool Shed has some pretty stellar BBQ imo. They're in kind of a crappy location with not great hours. But worth seeking out for some quality BBQ from time to time.

Memphis Blues is pretty similar to Big T’s, IMO. However, I think the Memphis Blues location in Vancouver is way better than Kelowna or Big T’s.

Hayden Block is delicious, though somehow it doesn't feel like proper BBQ

It’s always the brisket that makes or breaks things, and the Block’s are inconsistent.

Holy smoke was good, I appreciated the variety of sauces

Paddy’s used to have decent bbq but it closed

I had some decent brisket at Jane Bond but have only been that once

I think Holy Smoke nearly killed me.

I used to be able to walk to it from my old office. I consumed a lot of BBQ over that 5 year span and...I dont think its a coincidence they went under shortly after I moved.

Damn they were good.

Anyone been to Big Sky BBQ north of Okotoks? I’ve passed it a couple times but never gone in.

It's pretty good but be there early. They run out quickly and you'll be left with scraps and sausages.
