Can we get back to that . Coaches said they want Mantha shooting 300 pucks right . That's not FA . He and Huberdeau should be shooting 300 plus each if we want to see real results
If Mantha wants to stay he had better be way more Invested too. Why are guys just getting free passes ? I mean I know Popsicle got stapled to the bench but how about guys get popcorn up in the press box and have Craig bend their ears for a game???
Huska I hope will very slowly start turning up thr heat as the season progresses because if he let's complacency set in too early the early points we have won't mean FA if we aren't careful.
Hot starts are great let's just not pisss out our own Flames in the process as that to me would be somewhat tragic wouldn't it? Or am I out of line here .

Just so you know, pressers are for the media and their cameras. The players don't attend them. It is certainly not the same message he gives to the players after games or between them.

No big deal with the defensive switches - just looks like he's rotating guys in, is all. You don't want guys sitting in the press box indefinitely, because when you need them, they can't deliver.
Also, it's not like we're talking about guys who have been too good to sit. Weegar, Andersson and Bahl are everyday'ers but Miromanov, Bean, Pachal, Barrie, and Hanley are all pretty interchangeable, for the occasional game.

I forgot Klapka could be sent down without waivers. I still think he could be effective on the fourth line.

Sometimes I wonder about re-thinking our 4th line to be more of a young scoring line instead of a veteran energy line.
It's tough with Lomberg being a fixture on that 4th line but I sometimes wonder if he's good enough to play on the defensive line with Backlund, and think that suddenly opens up a lot of opportunity for the 4th line to look very different.
Kuzmenko - Kadri - Zary
Huberdeau - Sharangovich - Mantha
Lomberg - Backlund - Coleman
Honzek/Pelletier - Pospisil - Coronato
Rooney
It's something other teams have done, but that we've rarely seen here in Calgary, but I think there is a way you could have a "KID" line on this team on the 4th line.

Bean has been getting better and better IMO, and had a pretty good game yesterday. I agree with perhaps trying him in a pairing with someone of a higher caliber if possible. 3 points in 6 games makes him our 3rd highest scoring D-man, 1 point behind Weegar.

I do wonder about shifting Weegar back to his RH side - where I personally still think he's more effective.
Bahl - Andersson
Bean - Weegar
??? - Pachal
??? = Miromanov, Barrie, Hanley, AHLer (Grushnikov, Poirier, Solovyov)
I know I've said this a lot but it's why I still really don't get signing Barrie. This team didn't need another RH shot defender and we already had too many RH shots, and I don't think he's outperformed Grushnikov or Solovyov in camp. Also makes no sense they were playing Poirier on his RH in camp and continue to do so in the AHL even though he's really struggling on the right.

Ya, ya, I know.. more Kevin Rooney slander but the guy was put into the lineup when the team was absolutely rolling and was out chanced 10-1 during his 7 minutes of icetime. He has zero reason to be in the lineup especially when Kirkland has come in and taken his job, and Coronato should be playing top nine minutes.
Also - I don't see anyway Pachal comes out. I am sure Huska just wants to get Hanley some reps in but I am not sure Winnipeg is the team to do that against.

Coronato looked great on the 4L, but I guess that's not where they want him as the minutes aren't great.

I don't think that Pachal deserves to be taken out, but at the same time, it is obvious that this is just to rotate Barrie back in. Bean has been putting up points and looking better, so he stays in even if Pachal has been fine too. I do find Barrie to be lacking somehow, but may be he just needs more reps to get going. Keeping an open mind, but unless he starts becoming more effective, I don't see any teams calling Calgary about him at the deadline.

I don't believe the defencemen on the PP are the #1 problem with it. I'd say the #1 problem is zone entries and that's mostly on the forwards. I'll restate my pet peeve about Kadri and that is him attempting to skate the puck through stick checks and IIRC, he was guilty of giving the puck away at least once last night entering the zone on a PP.

I think they will be trying out different things for 15 or 20 games with lines an pairings. Even when there are injuries.
