Sometimes what you think is an upgrade is actually a more expensive downgrade.

They came within a game. Even if by the miracle of opponents rolling over late in those series, why would you mess with a group that worked?

It's so delicious how they are their own worst enemy. Got greedy and tried to stack more offense through UFA when there was enough there to begin with, and at the cost of their only meaningful prospects.

It's a masterclass alright. A masterclass in squandering generational talent. Only the oilers could pull that off.

- Nurse beats up a non-fighter because Arvidson fell and got hurt.

- Coaches challenge from the Pens that is a clear offside goes the Oilers way, shocking.

Also broke the record for getting out of the Oilers organization as fast as possible; signed a 3 year entry level contract and played for Bakersfield for the entire contract. Escaped Bakersfield for coyotes without playing for shelbyville.

What’s funnier are the comments about Broberg. It’s somehow forgotten that the oilers did try to sign him, but they completely lowballed him on the offer and he turned it down and also asked for a trade.

It’s nom nom nom delicious that somehow it’s like two different management structures making decisions. On the one hand they make the Ceci salary dump that creates salary cap flexibility, and then on the other they let Broberg go! And to make it even more confusing for oilerpologists, the state media begins the narrative that emberson is better than either Ceci or Broberg and is a shoo-in for 2nd in the Norris, because not only has emberson’s skill set been hidden thus far, but he’s going to turn nurse into a value contract Norris winner!

Honestly it’s like the greasers are losing at tic tac toe and everyone else is playing a global simulator.

I remember it was tough seeing Byron get claimed and do well in MTL, but Broberg looks to be on another level. And worst of all, they had the opportunity to keep him.
