Yes. I put several links of comparables into an email along with a very brief description.

I just went through a hail write off, and thanks to advice on this forum made sure I grabbed some better comparable and sent them off. Also advised of any recent work done or upgrades (I had just put on new tires). For 10 minutes of work I increased my ACV by several thousand.

Someone on here basically said, not that they are trying it screw your, but part of their job is to minimize the amount of the payout. They aren’t going to come to you at the top of their payout range. Basically their is no downside to trying to convince them that their estimate is on the low side and see what they come back with.

I wish I had known when my last car got written off in accident a number of years ago. I just accepted the number they gave me, but likely could’ve gotten some amount more just by essentially asking.

I have seen models with lower trim levels demanding more on Facebook and Autotrader. Do you just screenshot them and send them along to the adjuster or do they need links and stuff as well?
I put screen shots and a link to the ad in a Word file and emailed it to my adjuster.

She noted that I have to note the exact model year and trim...

Unfortunately, there weren't any exact matches with the same km's.

My 2011 has 151 k kms...all the comparables were well over 200k or more.

Did you ask her for a copy of the ACV report (Total Loss Report) that she was working with?

Sounds like I should just move the whole fleet to Shell 93 then.

As predicted...the three comparable vehicles used to valuate my truck are no where near comparable.

1 I cant find on the dealer website noted.

2 was close but had over 100K more than my truck

3 was a 2 door model with significantly more kms as well.

Evaluator noted my truck as 210000kms when it actually has only 150.
And they noted non-existent hail damage.

Why is this so difficult.

This video has dyno results of all the fuel in Vancouver at the 26:00 mark. I wouldn't expect anything different here.

Why is this so difficult.

Experienced the same thing. TD used JD Power & Associates for evaluating, but there is nothing in Calgary or nearby that is at the settlement value we were offered. 2010 base models selling for more than they offered. Anyway, gotta try again because apparently they only want to see comparable vehicles from Alberta and actual dealers.

This should be in the gear grinder thread, but we called two dealers to look at cars and arrange test drives of specific vehicles and when we arrive the vehicles are mysteriously missing or otherwise not available to drive. Twice we have wasted our time, once to test drive a Hyundai Tucson PHEV, which we couldn’t but they still tried pressuring us into leaving a deposit that night, and then today trying to test drive a used Toyota Corolla SE AWD hybrid, but the car was actually boxed in by other cars inside their used vehicle showroom and tried to convince is that the plain Corolla would be “almost” like the same thing. The sales guy seems oblivious to why I would want to test drive the car I would be considering buying. Like, wtf, when we called said exactly what we wanted to test drive and you confirmed it!

And also… know more about the vehicles than me! I should not be trying to convince you that the Prius Prime has an AWD version.

I firmly believe the automotive industry, like everything else, is not what it used to be. Expecting a salesmen to actually know anything about the product? Nah, it’s the second most expensive thing most people will ever buy, and just like realtors, the salesmen don’t know ####.

Dealers used to have names of the people who actually owned it. Then #### for big, and corps took over m, and the dealer model became nothing personal to anyone. Think the sales guys Kaizen or Go if Diwari or Macmanes gives two ####s about you, and your shopping experience? No, because they get treated like disposable assets by their company, and that’s all you are to them - a transitory tool to another line them at months end.

Oops. I think I had a brain fart. There apparently isn't a Prius Prime in AWD. I swear to god though, I saw that somewhere, or I have just been looking through so many used car ads that I am mixing everything up.

Blame capitalism for not implementing security features that increase costs but don’t increase profit. Regulations would help but consumers should be asking for these features too.

The two new Scout concepts that came out are interesting. Definitely getting a Rivian vibe, but with features that should make it better for the real world...ie. a gas range-extender, more tactile buttons not just screens, body on frame, solid axle, apparently easier repairability (Rivians get crazy expensive to fix even with a fender bender)...and bench seats!

I'm not a big EV guy, but this does look pretty cool and attempts to fix a lot of real-world issues people have with them. It's owned by VW though, so let's see where it ends up.

I was looking at the solid rear axle with motor and the partnership that was talked about between Magna and Scout. It seems this might be a Magna designed drive axle, so a bit of a Canadian connection. Given the partnership, I'd imagine there are a lot of Magna bits in this.

We were a Scout family in my younger years. I have such good memories of 4x4ing with my family all over the Purcell mountain range around Invermere. All through Jumbo, up to Paradise mine, the Bugaboos. Love the distinct Scout look. Only wish they had gone with round headlights instead of what they went with here.

Why do that when we can blame the police and immigrants

That was my first thought too... You can almost guarantee some aftermarket company has already sketched out a round light retrofit...

That'll fill with water and/or flicker and cost $2850.
