I noticed the same thing. All of the goals were glove side. Wonder if that’s the book on Wolf.

I agree. Goaltending was my biggest question mark for the flames. They have both looked solid.

On the tying goal, how did Coleman get an assist? I watched it multiple times, he didn't touch it. Does the NHL review or do they just credit whoever the refs deemed? Because it went Huberdeau to Rasmus shot then hit Aciari, Coleman took a swipe but missed and Kadri put it in.

They review them and often assists change a day or two later. With so many games they are probably just behind.

You start to realize, and it's a murderer's row upcoming so not happening, but if a streak like this continues a handful more games, meh results for the entire rest of the season can still keep you close.
Except we don't want close, do we?

I'm not complaining. High draft pick or playoffs/close to playoffs I just want the young players they have now to improve.

It's hard to pick all the variables that matter though and fans can tend to gravitate towards the easiest to future plan: i.e., the draft pick from the Monahan trade and the Flames draft pick this year. There are other variables that are harder to track though. Does a good culture and winning atmosphere improve Zary, Pospisil, Coronato, Honzek, and others? Does it keep Rasmus around longer than his current deal? Can the team rehabilitate Huberdeau as an reasonable player for his contract (or a trade)? Does the team acquire more assets in exchange for players who are deemed not long term fits at the deadline? This team currently has a high PDO, which will normalize at some point - but is that next year or next month?

So long as the management doesn't get tricked into this team being more ready to compete on a consistent basis like Brad did, I'm fine with whatever shakes out. Conroy wanting an under 25 year old centre suggests contingency planning for when Kadri and Backlund are winding down and tells me that he's not changing course at this point.

Wonder if Mews has a jawline that could cut glass.

I think in the next week and a half we’ll get a pretty good idea how real the start is. It’s the best start ever but I would say in every game there were definite stretches where they were getting dominated. But one thing this version of the Flames are really good at it sticking to it. Even if things aren’t going well.

With Carolina, Winnipeg, Vegas, Utah, NJ and the anointed Stanley cup 24/25 champion Oilers coming up. If we can go .500 I think that would be awesome. But the wheels will fall off the party bus eventually and the above teams outside of the Oilers have all had good starts. I’m very interested to see how they make out.

Who else remembers the flames 9-1-1 start with Roman Turek in net? Hopefully doesn’t end the same way.

They missed the playoffs.

Why is Utah lumped in with the other teams?

They are 4-2-1 and off to a pretty good start...and these new expansion teams generally are tough outs on home ice early on...although just lost 2 top 4 dmen to injury so might be in tough from that perspective.

CGY 47% VAN 53%
CGY 70% PHI 30%
CGY 59% EDM 41%
CGY 56% CHI 44%
CGY 59% SEA 41%
CGY 37% PIT 63%

These are the Flames "Deserve To Win O'Meter" numbers from MoneyPuck. Kind of aligns with the eye test for me. This game is the only one we really "stole".

Just don't give Vladar an extension 11 games in and maybe we'll be good.
