I think the general discourse on this event has been pretty silly. The arguments like "this just means you can do _____ every single time and never lose a position" just aren't realistic.
You can get away with borderline driving once, maybe twice, but the stewards definitely factor a cumulative effect into their decisions. With DRS, I think the benefit of the doubt should go to the defending driver.
I think they should be a lot faster to give a black/white flag for driving standards warning - though it should also be understood that this does not necessarily preclude a penalty from that same event. I suppose 'incident noted' sort of implies this, but I think they could improve the process

Max is good at knowing the rules, and knowing how he can skirt them in the least sportsmanlike way and still be within the rule. It's why there are several instances of rules being changed because of his driving(and other behaviors!).

Personally I just don't think he is great for the sport, and that he cares a lot more about winning than racing in a sportsmanlike manner. I know there are no points for that, but it kinda detracts from it. It' like when hockey teams find ways to exploit the rules until games become so boring that the rules need to change. Great, you won, but you kinda ruined it.

Lando flubbed the 1st corner of the race. That's on him.

Yeah, well said. He could have shut down the dive bomb had he gone right to the edge. Often feels like he isn't greedy enough at times and give too much space.

I'd argue it makes things more exciting - his willingness to battle hard is what gave us several fantastic laps of close racing. I think most other drivers in the field in that situation would have viewed the overtake as inevitable and let it happen fairly easily so they could preserve their tires and keep a gap to Oscar.
Good chance Oscar could've caught him (passing is another thing of course) if he kept pushing (and if the Max Lando battle continued longer, and if Lando slowed Max up if/when he gets by cleanly). Once again McLaren failed to see the bigger picture

Oscar's gap:
Lap 51 = 5.9s to Lando, 6.4 to Max
52 = 3.7 to Max, 4.1 to Lando
53 = 3.5 to Max
54 = 2.8
55 = 2.4
56 = backed off
Once Lando got in Max's DRS, Lando was taking ~0.5s per lap, which increased as the battle
If Lando gave back the position and managed to overtake in another two laps (a big IF), the Oscar likely ends up on Max's gearbox on the last lap...with nothing to lose and 1 lap fresher tires than even Lando

The sad thing is up until that point it was a fantastic race and he was doing a great job of taking preferred lines away from Lando. They were both moving around trying to find a better line each lap and it was very cool. It was only when he knew he was beat that he threw sportmanship out the window. The previous few laps had me on the edge of my seat!

Max was still trying to make the corner; he broke a quarter second too late. I think it's just instinct to fight bloody hard, even if it gets your toe on/over the line of what's acceptable. One could argue that Lando's off-track pass is a similar level of poor sportsmanship (but kind of in a different vein)
I'm glad Max doesn't accept a DRS blowby as a fait accompli.
