Seems like it's the first time since Kipper (no, I am not saying he's the next Kipper, at all) that I feel so relaxed with a goalie in net. Felt that at times with Markstrom over the years, but not consistently. Wolf is just so calm, not flailing around or lost. Which is strange because I didn't see any of that when he played with the big club last season. As they were saying on the broadcast tonight, maybe giving him those games last season (even if he got lit up) was a blessing in disguise as it prepared him for this season. Because so far anyways, he looks like a very confident netminder. Hope he can keep it up.

Wow what a start! Fun game battling back from 3rd period deficits twice. Rasmus was elite and pretty cool for Wolf to win his first shootout against Malkin. Awesome for Kirkland to get the winner as an unexpected shootout pick and he even got praise from Messier on ESPN.
Didn't think the Flames were as bad at the GT made them seem and it was a better effort than the Kraken game. Still some bad penalties and a few poor defensive zone shifts though. Didn't think the Pens had a lot of high quality chances and it's a different 3rd period if Zary buries that open net right before a penalty was called. The schedule is about to get really tough, hopefully they can stay competitive.

It's early but he looks head and shoulders above where he was at last year in terms of his control and demeanor in net. He's most definitely an NHL goalie, but if this continues I think it's safe to say he's got the upper level starter ability in him that everyone was hoping was there.
