I can confirm that you guys are conversing with Rick Bell. Of course he’s going to deny it! That’s exactly what Rick Bell would do.

As much as he would love to take credit for the clever writing and fiery opinions of Rick Bell, he is not Rick Bell. Sure, he might have some wit and a keen sense of Calgary’s pulse, but let’s not get carried away here. Rick Bell is a unique voice in Alberta’s media landscape, with decades of experience covering the ups and downs of politics, the oil patch, and just about every quirky character who’s wandered into Silly Hall.
Now, if you think you’re onto something because he knows a thing or two about Alberta and the old abandoned Greyhound station, you’re missing the mark. Rick Bell, a straight-shooting, hard-hitting columnist, wouldn’t waste his time on denial—he’d lean in, stir the pot, and probably lob a few pointed questions at the powers that be. Locke, on the other hand, is merely an observer of these antics.
Rick Bell has his own distinct swagger. He doesn’t pull punches, takes no prisoners, and never lets the political elite off the hook. So, while it must be flattering for Locke to be mistaken for the man himself, I’m afraid he’ll only disappoint you. He is not Rick Bell. But if you’re looking for a sharp take on Calgary’s latest drama or some good, old-fashioned Alberta attitude, well, Locke I guess can do his best. But Rick? No, that’s not him.

Sorry Dinger, but they’re onto you! It was inevitable though. You’ve posted those Locke for Mayor comments and that’s such a Rick Bell thing to do.

Hey! I'd be an awesome Mayor and you damned well know it!
I mean...that would come with some consequences of it's own...but that can't be helped!
Would I name the Airport after myself? Yes. Yes I would.
Also...would I propose a Hula-Hoop competition featuring the giant Blue Ring? Yes. Yes I would.
If you can Hula that giant bastard there ought to be a prize for that.

If 7-11 North America really wanted to save itself, they should just turn them into carbon copies of 7-11's in Asia. The quality of food you can get from a 7-11 in Japan or Thailand is night and day compared to what we get over here, I still have dreams of those grilled panini things. After a night of boozing they were the food of the gods

I can confirm that Locke is not Rick Bell, but he did have at least a couple of sub par English teachers back in his day.
I can also confirm that in more recent years Locke has at times gone to great lengths on here to convince me that I’m almost always wrong.
So who knows? Perhaps I’m wrong about this one and he is not only in fact Rick Bell, but he was also his own English Teacher!
Looks like we’re going to need a DNA test, polygraph examinations, fingerprints, birth certificates, basically the whole nine yards in order to be certain.

Locke and CatptainCrunch both do the "each sentence is a new paragraph" thing. It's tough on the eyes.

I wish I knew how much money I was wasting as a kid in 7-11 by buying anything other than slurpees and Big Gulps there.

I think part of the downfall of convenience stores is the convenience of groceries stores now. Other than the slightly further away parking spot, think about the difference from the old days.
Before self checkout grocery stores were super annoying for 1-5 items, as even in the 13 items or less checkout you'd often be behind 4-5 customers at 2-3 minutes each. Now just personally my choices if I need milk on the way home are... 1. Stop at convenience store and pay $7.50-$9.00 for 4L milk, maybe get stuck behind 2-3 customers, each transaction slow and painful. Or 2. Stop at safeway, walk to their milk fridge, pay $5.75 for the same milk, and walk right up to a self check out and be out most times quicker than the convenience store.

Yup, convenience stores are very inconvenient when you're stuck behind lotto addicts who can't stop adding things to their lotto order then pay for it with bills and coins.

If if they brought that level of food over - it'd never fly. Look at the reaction of some people here - the convienience store has a stereotype here.
That and the societal norms of North America are very different. I was in the Circle K north of the Sheldor Chumir a few months ago (for a hot dog) and it was a decidedly hostile experience. The fist fight in the bike lane next to it provided the lunch hour entertainment.
