That's one of those "slashes" you could call 20 times a game in the NHL.

To do it when there was no giveaway, it's in the neural zone, with no real impact on the play...and to make it a 5-3 to boot...just a terrible call.

The Bahl one was probably the right call though, can't stick out your leg even if the guy didn't fall over.

Just call it the same way for both teams, that's all we ask. If your stick isn't in control and it hits someone in the face, that's a penalty. If you hit someone after a play is over, even if you haven't heard a whistle, that's still a late hit, because what matters is when the official intended to blow the whistle. If you grab someone's jersey to try to create a turnover and an offensive opportunity, that's a penalty.

Too bad the even-up rule for penalties does not apply when the Flames have had fewer power plays.
