They are taking turns until someone runs away with it. Pretty good plan if you ask me.

That fourth line has a great chant built into it:

Lom-berg Cost-co Klap Klap klapklapklap (like Ricci's ugly)

4th line returns to the identity line - it is a handful for other teams to manage out there.

Seattle play a similar game to Calgary - they are very aggressive on the forecheck and everyone skates hard. This will be a great test for Calgary from that perspective. The Flames' D will probably be the most pressured in this game than from previous games, and up until now, this 'weakness' has looked like more of a strength for the team. Let's see if they keep it up in a higher pressure environment.

Should be a fun game tonight. Hey, it is the Flames, and the Flames are a fricken fun team to watch now!

It would be amazing if we could acquire Cozens.

I wonder what it would take?

Cozens seems like a pipe dream. But that would be a great pickup.

I'd be willing to send a 1st (NJ's)
and prospect/roster player.

No first, just Andersson

Mid round pick comes back from BUF in that case. Andersson looks like a top D this year.

You have to take in age and contract length too. I think we would be giving up the mid round pick. I would do Andersson and a 3rd but I like Cozens a lot.

Is the rumour still that Andy wants out, or was that ever the case?

If so, that seems like a wise trade off, as the Flames have plenty of talent on the way up at D but need help down the middle.

Hard pass on Cozens for me, would much rather have their 2025 1st (top 10 protected, becomes unprotected in 2026 when the Sabres pick in the top 10) plus Helenius or Kulich.

Someone suggested the "Kirkland Signature Line" for the fourth line. I'm going with that.

Nobody has suggested they run Wolf every night. But it isn't ideal for him to have a week between starts when he has played as well as he has.

This also isn't a 2-game sample size. This is Vladar's fifth season in the league. His career save percentage is .894. That is the worst in the league for goalies with at least as many games as him.

At some point you need to prioritize your potential goalie of the future over the pending UFA. Wolf has earned another start tonight and sitting him for 6 days is a good way to get him out of his rhythm.

I wonder if that might be partially the reason for putting Barrie in instead of Miranov - more experience to counter the forecheck pressure.

If Wolf is as good as many of us are convinced he is, a few extra days off are not going to bother him. It may come as a shock to you, but the Flames have *GASP* TWO goalies, and both have started the season very well. Vladar deserves starts just as much as Wolf does, and the challenge to the coaching staff is to keep BOTH of them engaged and game-ready.

No problem with the Vladar start.
Wolf has been great though.

Vladar has been sitting for 6 days and it would be 9 if you held him out until the next game. They ARE prioritizing their potential goalie(s) but in their analysis, they see Vladar having potential left in him and coming off his surgery, they want to see if he can realize some of that potential. Even if it is only to pump up his value so they can get an asset for him later this season. They can afford to be patient and it is still very early in the season.
