The Fell Beast that came with Barad Dur is selling for an *obscene* amount of money. There was actually a bidding war on mine, which I've never seen. 12 hours after I posted it on Marketplace Saturday, there were like 630 views and 26 saves overnight, which is mind boggling compared to the $15-30 GWPs I typically unload.
Ignoring the collectability (and probably the FOMO), it's not a very good design. The joints on the Fell Beast's neck and tail look terrible. And it's my understanding the Nazgul figure can be built quite easily as no part of him is exclusive.

Lego also has sales going on to try and keep up. There wasn't much on the US side but maybe y'all will get better deals.
Edit: WOW! you guys are winning bigly on this sale. The US version has a whopping 15 sets right now. Y'all have 140!
(It's not a total loss as I was able to pick up another medieval blacksmith, but still super jealous)

Building the Artemis rocket now. One thing about big kits is that sometimes they have to be repetitive to get the size. Building the launch tower has been a bit slow!

Whilst waiting for the leak on the big kit for us thanksgiving, I started doing a little pre planning on various sites.
Costco seems to be the cheapest option on price alone. You don’t get lego points (5% in Canada) but the price is less. Costco also seems to have kits that are about to be retired and are not available (out of stock) on the official lego site. If the price is the same on Costco, they usually have a throw in kit. The value of the thrown in kit seems to vary widely, and of course YMMV on the value of the actual kit to you. 3 or 4 days shipping looks normal.
Lego official gives points, never sales on the ones that interest me, and will offer double points on key themes or everything depending upon the promotion. Many times, to get the preorders rolling on something new, lego will offer a kit that’s relevant to the bigger set, and it’s often a limited edition. Usually takes a few days for shipping after order, or after release date for new sets.
Amazon has prime days of course, but no guarantees that your desired kit goes on sale. Prime delivery can be extremely fast, however the normal prices tend to be the same as the Lego store without points.
Walmart or Best Buy also will ship but offer pickup usually in the similar time line as delivery. I recommend being careful on these sites as 3rd parties will sell older sets, but at crazy prices. Prices match official lego stores.
Every so often you can find sets at Canadian tire and toys r us on sale, but I usually shop those sites only if I can’t find stuff elsewhere.
Fingers crossed for an epic set like titanic in November!!

Recently mounted and hung my 3 cars in my office. I didn't like them just sitting on the shelf. I really want the Porsche GT3 to add, but since it's discontinued I might have to settle for the Mclaren P1

Alright guys, hoping this is something y'all will appreciate! I participated in my first Lego show in OKC as part of our LUG. I made a minifig scale ice rink.
More pics spoilered for size

How long did it take you to create the hockey scene? And did you keep a tab on how many pieces?

Fantastic work dobbles!
I was impressed with the subtlety of making the circles on the ice. I zoomed in to see how you did it. Very creative with the smaller pieces.
I don’t think that I’ve ever seen as many flat white pieces in one place at the same time!
Fantastic build!
Ps I knew that the oilers weren’t featured as there weren’t any jerseys thrown on the ice.

Thanks guys. For parts, I'm not sure on total. As mentioned, there are a ton of small plates to get the circles as circular as possible. The rink is built to minifig scale assuming that a minifig is 6 feet tall. So that gave the ice a width of 74 studs and a length of 175 studs. Because the bricks are all built on their side, and legos are taller than they are wide, it actually has a length of 146 bricks. So grand total it would be 11,000 1x1 bricks to cover the ice. (or 5500 1x2, 2750 1x4, etc)
It took a few months of work after the kids went to bed. A lot of the conceptual design work to figure out how to make various complicated portions like faceoff dots, circles, etc. Then once I had working designs I would order parts. Then build. For parts, a lot of it is sourced from my local PAB wall at the Tulsa store. They have had white bricks in various sizes in stock this year. Lots of 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, and 1x12. Since the stores started selling pick a brick in boxes instead of cups, you can fit 1500 studs worth in a box that costs $18 US. So the ice would cost roughly 7 boxes worth. The chairs were on the wall as well as the gray plate and lots of other bits. So that made it more economical.
The figures are from Legos only hockey set from 20 years ago. I sourced the shoulder pads from multiple bricklink sellers around the world and then hodge podged the torsos, legs, helmets, sticks and skates. The actual figures are pretty pricey and would have cost more than all the build had I got them whole.
I tried to make it as authentic as I could. Everything to scale, scorers table, little spot between the benches, etc. The ice is built mostly from end to end with some of the sections built front to back to make the circles work. The faceoff dots have 2 arches surrounding a round tile. The glass panels slip into the old school antenna base.

Another thing is RBC Avion and their cashback promos. Right now it's 15%. When you stack that with double VIP and whatever gift with purchase you can flip, pretty good deal.

Fantastic deal! Some people might use the savings to buy other Lego and explain that it is the same price in the wallet and get more Lego but have the spouse get mad because “you can only build one set at a time and where will it all go and…are you listening to me? Are you on that lego site again? Give me that phone. My mother was right about you. No lego until you mow the lawn. No. Today. I’m not negotiating. Give me that phone.”
I’m going to have to look into this deal!

I finished building the McLaren P1 the other night. It was a really fun build and the final product looks amazing. When it first came out I wasn't sure about it because the colour seemed to be close to the Porsche GT3 but after building it, you can definitely see a colour difference. The GT3 is orange and the P1 is distinct volcano yellow.
When I put it with the other cars from the series I could help but notice the complexity over the releases. You can see that the cars are getting more complex and intricat with their builds and Lego is using more and more curved pieces or pieces that give the cars their distinct lines. They're also getting more and more expensive!!
I'm excited to see what they come up with next in two years!

This is the second Wolverine.
I've been trying so hard to avoid getting into Lego, bit this X Mansion is really making it difficult. No Beast though? He's an original member, so disrespectful.
The Tim Burton Batman Lego, the Seinfeld set, and the home alone house were all crazy tempting too.

Well I popped my Lego cherry.
I purchased the 25th anniversary Millennium Falcon (small set)
The Bonsai tree, and I received the free lego carved pumpkin.
I built the pumpkin and although it was on the small side I found it was a great introduction into the world of lego build sets.
I am already eyeing the TIE Interceptor and look forward to falling into this rabbit hole.
Yes I'm very late to the party but this 62 year old is excited to finding fun builds and searching for places to display them.

Welcome to the dark-side... I definitely treat myself to a couple of big sets per year, but I often sneak in little ones like these as part of Amazon orders:

I have long liked the look of the TIE Interceptor. So when LEGO made one, I had to have it. It was a fun build overall. Not very complex or long, around 10 hours or so. It's kind of funny though, as it's hard to take of pic of where it doesn't look like the solar panels are all weird...but they look much better in person.
My TIE fleet grows!
