Exactly. There aren’t any vets of note to help usher in the youth.

Some of the Buffalo talk comes from the summer. Putting together a Ras Ras pairing was top of the wishlist for Sabres fans. That would be a deadly pairing.

With the Sabres I'm not so sure it's a vet problem. They haven't drafted forwards who are A1 potential (maybe aside from Cozens). Their coaching has always been in a constant state of 1 or 2 seasons then fired. I think they just have to have a fostering coaching staff and some better potential up front. They have a lot of guys who are 2nd line potential but without good team development, I'm not sure they've been given the help needed. They got their back end for the future, now just gotta work on that high end talent up front.

Why not Helenius? I mean if they’re desperate, trade prospects and picks

Ottawa needs D, maybe something with them makes sense?

Plus, Pospisil was always just over .5 PPG in the A. In 21-22 (his last full AHL season) he was 11th on the team in scoring. Only one person ahead of him was what you'd call a vet down on the farm (Froese). The next year he got hurt, but even so, Pelletier, Zary, Jones, Phillips were all ahead of his pace. Duehr looked good and got a shot.
Pospisil made the most of his eventual call up but absolutely no one was screaming about the unfairness of him not being called up before that.

To me, this would be the best trade chip for them. He’s likely the furthest away from NHL-ready and they need to get better now. Would definitely be interested if Helenius was available.
Like others have said… they could use vets. The flames have a few good ones but tough to know if they would go to Buffalo.

Eichel, Reinhart, Mittelstadt, Cozens...
Maybe the coaching carousel is due to not having any vets to build a winning culture.

Sounds like they’d be looking for one Roger McQueen

Those are the key words when it comes to the Sabres- "winning culture", or perhaps, "losing culture" which they have had for over a decade.

Nope. Don’t like hearing this.
The only way to build a Championship team is through the top of the draft.
The Flames have no key foundational players in place. Adding to this roster just prevents them from actually drafting them.
If they do this, the race back to the middle is officially on.

They are looking to replace Cole Schwindt. Let’s relax here.

You take everything so seriously, chill out.
You have no idea what Conroy and the Flames are planning.

I’m not saying I do - I’m saying it’s foolish to do what Frank is saying he has heard. I’m plenty chill, and it would be stupid to bolster this roster with more mid-tier talent, because shockingly enough that’s how you end up in the middle.

Guys with chill to spare definitely chicken little about the future of the franchise every time a rumour floats by about acquiring or signing someone over the age of 23 though, for sure.
Just oodles of chill. Pools full of chill.

Frank is almost always wrong anyways. I would trust a magic 8 ball more than him for trade rumors.
